But according to yourself dear Springy, 2001 wasnt a choke because we didnt finish top, therefore we werent the best side of the year.

As I said yesterday. If you lot falling in a heap of **** on the eve of the finals and possibly blowing the best season youve ever had makes you feel better, then all power to ya!! :thumbsu:

Form leading into finals is what counts and you know it, as 99% of the football world knows it. Actually i'm quite surprised you are continuing on with this line Mac. You're letting your bias cloud your judgement and dent your credibility.

BTW wasn't it you who was saying last week that Adelaides 8 winning game form was inflated by 6 wins over the bottom 6 teams. So we couldn't have been too good then?

Springchoke, you are the last person to criticise someone else for being biased.

Not correct I'm afraid - Carlile, Walsh, Shattock, Ware, Eckermann and Deluca could all have been picked - thats 28 players not 24. Splitting hairs I know but it is not a factual statement and was made up by you know who. Not sure what the go with Giles and Minson is - who are both on their list and I'm assuming are injured.

Going by the responses, I thought I was on the Port board (which I visit on the rare occasion). Obviously, that board is boring as bat sh*it and they have to come here.

Giles and Minson are fit and playing reserves football for their clubs.

It was Mark Williams that said we have 'around 24 players to pick from next week'. Which was factually wrong but in reality, 4 players played reserves this week and Ware has been told he wont ever play again.

If you care to check my posting history, ive said about 100 times that we choked in 2 of those years.

It is your mob that are deluded and the inconsistencies in the opinions is funny.

I quite like Chad (I got ****ed at a nightclub with him one night, it's a top bloke, even for a dirty Port person) but his carry on was a little pathetic.

We Crows people hate losing to Port more than anything, we all know that, but the Power beat us in a dead rubber, a game which effectively meant nothing.

It'd be like us winning the Ashes back this year 4-0, and then having the Poms win the last game and celebrate like it actually meant something.

Having said that, we're ****ed.

A loss is a loss. It doesn't really matter what the circumstances are. That's why I find it monotonous and boring that Port fans keep going on about choking. Seriously, they have completely lost sight of what the word actually means. Instead, hoping like anything that we lose in exactly the same circustances that they did. And if we don't, well they'll call it the same thing anyway. What we are facing is a form slump, and will probably lose and get knocked out at some stage. The circumstances are very different. They were last year too. A loss doesn't feel any better under a different name though.

****, most crows supporters didn't ever know what choking meant.

This topic is pathetic quite frankly. Certain people are trying to make themselves feel better about the loss by giving Chad a hard time. He was excited, proud. He deserved it. Some people really let things get to them way too easily.

Quite frankly, I couldn't care less if some people are giving it to Chad. After all, its OUR board. If you don't like it, pi**ss off to your own board.

Amazing the number of Port posters on the Adelaide board. I wouldn't know but do many of us post on the Port board?

So that means they had 30 players to pick from not 24. Its irrelevant whether they may play for your club again and why coz thats not how the "only 24" to pick from means to the average reader - that suggests that if you had another 3 injuries you couldn't field a side. Quite simple really. Spin doctors in fine form at the Advertiser.

Many crows supporters talk on the Port board. I am not doing anything wrong. I'm not just talking about people in this thread. You clearly never read the advertiser if you think they were trying to make it sound better for the Power .

Really? I think back in 2002 it was being used in its correct context. These days people use it for any old loss. It was hardly just Crows fans calling Port chokers. Your own fans were too, along with fans of every other team, and media from across the country.

By the way, what do you think it means?

To fail to perform effectively because of nervous agitation or tension, especially in an athletic contest: choked by missing an easy putt on the final hole.

I think its fair to say that this description aply fit Port's perforamnces against Collingwood and Sydney and in the qualifying finals of 02 and 03 respectively.

Losing to a team lower on the ladder, or finishing top and not winning the Grand Final, or suffering injuries that reduced your team, or simply being outplayed by another team on the day are not really synonymous with choking. Obviously as a Port fan I know you won't accept that any Crows loss can't possibly be a choke. And to be honest I'm not really expecting to convince you, nor do I care to. I'm more interested in establishing with other Crows fans what the actual meaning of the phrase is and would like to share my opinion with them. I'm not about educating Port fans. That would be an impossible task. ;)

But why are you here?? The game is over, you won, now shoo!:D

****, bringing up what happened to the Power in those years has nothing to do with this. Stop bringing up the past in order to take the focus off the crows.

It's a forum. I'm defending a player from the team I support. I'm not saying anything wrong.

Ill happy admit we choked in 2002 and 2003 - although in 03 we had some injuries. I however do not believe we choked in 2001.

What is your opinion ****? Do you think you choked last year?

How can explain the meaning of choking if I'm not allowed to bring up Port Adelaide? :D

Anyway, I don't think it's up to you what I talk about. I'm hardly taking the focus off the Crows. Why would I want to do that? If I did I wouldn't be on a Crows website now, would I? ;) I'd probably go watch a movie or something.

I don't really remember 2001, all I remember is that you lost to Hawthorn at home in the semi. If that wasn't a choke then I guess that shows what I am trying to say. Not all losses (even at home, to a lower opponent) are necessarily due to choking.

Last year? I didn't think so at the time but I have to admit now the more I think about it that the game against St Kilda we did probably play a bit below our best and choked to some small extent. To be absolutely honest I'm not convinced though because St Kilda also did play absolutely fantastic and as we know have a great group of players, possibly the best. I don't think the difference between us and St Kilda was the same as Port to Collingwood or Sydney back in those years. I mean, St Kilda had probably one of the best lists in the comp.

Whatever we did last year though is very different to this year. I think my point is, or was supposed to be, is that it really doesn't matter. A loss is a loss and the result is the same. It doesn't hurt any less.

How can you possibly say you didn't choke in 2001 and keep a straight face. Your win/loss ratio heading into finals was 100%, based on the last 6 games of the minor round. Your win/loss ratio in finals was 0% and from memory, both losses were home games.

Your memory is wrong. In the first week we played Brisbane in Brisbane who were in the middle of one of the biggest winning streaks of all time. Yup, what easy beats.

How can you say you didnt choke last year with a straight face? Most wins in a season, highest finish in a season, most consecutive wins as club records and also the best statistical defence in the history of the AFL. But thats different I guess.

Will you and your Port mates either shut up about choking or fk off!! I made a similar request 24 hours ago and you're still embarrassing yourself.

I've had a gutful of Port supporters invading our board and showing the graciousness of alley cats and mongrel dogs in their win.

You won the game fair and square, and that's always possible in a showdown by the very nature of the game, irrespective of ladder position. Show some decency and enjoy your win without trying to belittle your opponent. All you do is belittle yourself in the process.

I didn't see all your giant traps flapping around here after showdown 20 earlier this year, when you got flogged. Neither did I visit your board and stick s hit up your team for its pathetic effort that day.

We've got finals coming up and our season going down the drain with a loss of form and major injuries to key players. The last thing I'm in the mood for is fkg irritants whose only reason for being on this board is to be a smart arse.
