Bumping this in anticipation of a long slow offseason.

Bam there’s six straight off the bat.

Williams’ dad never debuted but he was on the list of both Carlton and StKilda

Willie Rioli the last one?

Josh Kennedy's dad won 3 NBL titles with the Canberra Cannons :basketball:

There's only been six named.
Oh oops, I counted Jez and Gov as separate players.

Still one to be named then. I just have to work out who was the seventh guy I counted.

Nah there’s only six. I don’t know whether I mistakenly included Hammer Brayshaw, or whether I just plain old miscounted the men.

Thought of this this morning:

Hypothetically, the AFL decides to retrospectively award premiership medals to anyone who played a game for the eventual premiers during the season, not just those that played in the GF.

This would result in a lot of Eagles players who missed out on playing in a premiership getting medals.

But only two players would get two WCE premiership medals despite never playing in a WCE premiership. Who are they?

Clape and Krummel?

Would also make Clape a triple premiership player (1995 with Carlton when he actually played)

Krummel payed one game in 1992 and one in 1994. What a boss.

Correct.

Ugle and Metropolis the other guys who were on the list both seasons but neither played in 1994.

Next question: under that same hypothetical, who would have the least games of any West Coast premiership player?

(I haven’t actually worked out the answer yet).

Least games to get to a premiership or least gamed played in their career?

Suspect it's Liam Ryan (13) for the first one, and Venables (21) for the second

Edit: Steven Armstrong only played 10 games for the club in 2006

Think he means any player during a premiership season who ended up playing the least. The least amount possible is 1, eg played a single game in 2006 then never played again.

Seems to be Venables for that unwanted record :(

I meant under the hypothetical where anyone who played in a premiership season is a premiership player.

You’re right, sadly Venables has the record for least games by an actual premiership player.

21 Venables
34 Armstrong
36 Bond
43 Harding
48* Rioli
52 Vardy
73 Hynes
75 Jetta
75 Lycett
78 Hansen
78* Cole
80* Ryan

That’s everyone under 100.

Least games before a WCE flag
10 Armstrong
13 Ryan
15 Venables
16 Harding
16 Evans
18 Ball
21 Bond
24 White
24 Rioli
27 Cole

Alright I’m going to call this suggestion that anyone who played a game in a premiership year gets a medal the Oprah hypothetical. “You get a premiership medal, you get a premiership medal, everyone gets a premiership medal!!”

Priddis played one or two games in 2006. Is this kind of where you're going?

I was going for lowest total WCE games by a player with an Oprah medal. The number of games is less than five. I won’t tell you the player.

If you’re looking for players who played the least games before getting an Oprah premiership medal, then Brendan Krummel (one game in 1992) beats Matty Priddis (two games in 2006). There might be others, I’d have to check.

Robbie West played 13 total for West Coast and played at least 1 game in 1992. I am sure there's lower but from a cursory look at Footywire that is a decent guess, I cbf checking every obscure player.

Krummel, Jason Ball (1992) and Jarrod Brander (2018) would get an Oprah medal after just one AFL game.
