Anyone else a little worried about this? It's only early in the season and we're 1-0, but our next three games are against good opposition and the shorter breaks do take their toll on the players, especially when they're back to back.

Been worried about it for months...it's been a big part of selection discussion since the draw was announced.

just the AFL trying to make it harder for us and easier for teams like Sydney

With our depth we should be able to manage.

Brown can come in for one of the 3 backs.

Guys like GHS, Murdoch, Caddy, Stringer etc can come in and out of the team when guys pull up sore

We can rotate pretty well though in the next few weeks think of the players that didnt play against Hawthorn that will be more then handy coming back into the side, our team has quite a bit of depth, shouldn't be too bad.

I dont think it will be a huge issue to be honest, we have fantastic depth right now so the bottom 8-10 players can be rotated in and out of the side and almost everyone can have atleast 1 game off.
This week will be the biggest test IMO, coming off a big game against the Hawks we have previously struggled. Carlton I dont think we should be all that worried from what I saw on Monday, I think we have them covered easily.
The Swans, well I think they will start the year VERY slowly and wont pose a huge challenge either, I tip us to be 4-0.

I love it personally.
Anything that helps Scott sell rotations is good in my eyes.

Agreed :thumbsu: Plus Kelly, Stevie J, Corey will come back at some stage. I think the suspensions and injuries are a blessing in disguise. The team will get a bit older and bigger as the weeks go on until we are at maximum mighty morphin power ranger status V the swans.

We have depth, and a very nice run towards the end of the season so for me it evens out. Also we play three games in Victoria in those six day breaks.

Have you seen Hawthorn's fixture? Now that's brutal.
They could easily be 5-10 by midseason. They are lucky in that they have a Melbourne, Giants and Suns all in a row in the middle of the year. They've got a very tricky run home too, Pies, Roos and Swans in the last 3. :thumbsu:

We've been banging on about our depth for months, here's where we see just how well it stands up. And I hate to say it, but our start to the season is a picnic compared to Hawthorn's. 2-2 would have been reasonable; if we can manage 3-1 or 4-0, we'll be flying, with a very favourable run, basically from Round 9 onwards (8/14 games against bottom 8 teams from 2012; 7 in Geelong; only three six day breaks - depending on the Round 23 fixture).

Good way to look at it. If we are brave we will use as many players over this period as possible while keeping team harmony. Any sore spot , any head whack , any sniffle just look to the VFL and see if there is an alternative. For example Rivers > Brown
Obviously not all players are replaceable atm , not all are replaceable at any time (Selwood) but every game is tough , every opponent must be respected but our team health must be highest priority.

** From that POV , its illogical to remove George this week after a week as a sub.

Read somewhere today that SJ is hoping to be back for Round 3. That means we'll have Kelly back this week, SJ the week after and hopefully McIntosh and Vardy due back not long after that, and that's not including the likes of Corey (who could play this week too) and Menzel, who's hoping to be back in the VFL in the next few weeks.
