Well, for the first time under Mick...we will have made the finals 3 years in a row now.

Starting to build consistancy with a list i think we get us our 15th premiership. Great signs from the kids this year but i think we have too many key players out at the moment to challenge Geelong in September.

If we had a fit Rocca, H.Shaw, Didak in our team i would be happy to finish 4th!

For 3 years running we will be a win away from 4th and will fall short. For three years running losses to ordinary sides and traditional rivals will have cost us dearly. It is great to play finals and better to win them but realistically we haven’t been good enough. We have to look at the positional deficiencies and move heaven and earth to rectify them. We aren’t that far off being a real flag threat.

With dawes, anthony, wellingham, mccarthy and wood seems to show we are trying to address our problems we are getting there

Pretty confident we'll be a finals side for the next 3-5 years too (assuming no ridiculously bad trading).

We're not a geniune flag shot yet, but if we keep developing well, we'll have plenty of exciting years ahead.

In 2006 we made finals on the back of Holland Lonie Rocca Buckley Tarrant Licuria Clement Presti Johnson and Wakelin.

We might have not improved ladder position in three years but we certainly have reinvigorated without going backwards

thats true, we have turned our list over a lot and still maintained our ladder position pretty much.

other clubs like essendon tiges carlton supporters on this board are all sitting there goin on how young and good their lists are compared to the pies.

one thing we have over them is our kids have experienced finals footy.

our lists looking exciting, if we can snare another young mid in this years draft plus cousins i think our team is almost there.

We'll probably finish in 5th spot for the 3rd year running too, not sure if thats a good or bad thing... :/

I'm hoping we are a little bit like Geelong of 2004-2005. A young side that had some weaknesses and finished 4th and 5th I think. They went and traded for Ottens and picked up Prismall, N. Ablett and Egan in the 04 draft and Stokes and Gamble in the 05 draft and a few years later were the Premiership team.

We traded for Wood last year to try to rectify a weakness and drafted what looks like a good mid in McCarthy. If we can bring in Cousins, another good young mid and a KP back through the draft and trade and continue to develop the great young talent on the list then we are in good shape.

We need our 14th premiership first, but I can see what you are saying.

Malthouse is a class coach. He has his flaws but there aren't many blokes who can consistently play kids and get them to perform at the highest level what's more he doesn't get influenced by reputations in selecting his teams. They players are picked on form and merit, as it should be. For that reason his coaching probably gets us two or three wins "over the line" each season. My opinion anyway:thumbsu:.
