Definately incorrect disposal, should have been a free.
But, seriously, go through any match this year, there are about 20 incorrect disposals a game that don't get payed. The ball coming out is all that matters any more.
Non issue here.

LMAO at the Bombers fans trying to blame the umpires for losing the game..... BWAAHAHA.. They even have a whole thread "The Rules of the game"...HAAHAA losers...

I would be more worried about why that should be a free but it's legal disposal these days to just drop the footy. Saw Judd do it several times Friday night, plenty of others but he was just one I noticed it happen with a lot. Used to be the easiest holding the ball to give for decades but now if u feel the tackle, just drop it.

Was a throw but probably the correct decision given the state of the game and the umpire's positioning.

Simon Black's on the other hand was something Rajon Rondo would be proud of.

this is something that annoys me, their should be no such thing as correct decision given then state of the game. this is BULLSHIT.
if their is a free kick in the first or the last minute of the game it should be called as the state of the game or the time on the clock is not factored into the rules.

it is the umpires job to pay free kicks when and where they happen.

everyone in the afl from commentators coaches and umpires down have to get over this illogical line of thought.

its just like how you can seemingly grab a player wrestle him to the crown and take him completely out of the context under the guise of a Shepard but anywhere else on the ground is a free kick instantly.

.

Completely disagree... the last thing you want is these clowns grandstanding in dying minutes of games and 'hard call' free kicks being paid and deciding games.

Better to let the two sides 'hammer it out' (within reason), and not have an umpire winning/losing games. The blatent free kicks are there, the soft ones you wear throughout the first 3 quarters and a bit, but in the last 10 minutes, in a close game....the whistle has to be put away, and only obvious frees paid.

Your way means the other way where an incorrect call by an umpire that is only realised by the slow motion playback can swing the game for a goal and a win. No...not on...human error is part of the game, so let it be decided by a hard fought out final minutes by the PLAYERS, not the green gumbies!

I came on here to make this thread too.

The decision was right. Dusty had no prior opportunity so under the rules as long as he attempts to dispose of the football correctly play-on will be called. So yes Dusty's disposal wasnt a propper handball but the umpire got it right under the rules unless I dont understand the rules for this year.

But yeah, it was a throw.

The thing that annoyed me more was Leroy Jetta going in feet first into a contest that resulted in a free and a goal to Angus Monfries....Do that again buddy and you'll get a lot more than a blood mouth, and then the Essendon supporters clapped him off as if it was some act of courage, i've seen more courage out of a stray cat.

Leroy Putting Your Head Over The Footy will earn you a lot more respect than that stunt you pulled last night.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try and give Lids a week for that. :thumbsd:

Definately incorrect disposal should have been a free to the Bombers, goal to us was awesome and just about killed them.

I could hear Richo laugh his arse off on the sidelines payback for the hands in the back rule which killed us a few years back. LMAO

Bad luck bombers you lost. :thumbsu:

i think the entire game should be umpired like they do in the last 10 minutes.
collingwood vs adelaide was umpired like that today, best umpired game of the year by a mile.

Great, then you agree that since the umpires were unable to make an 'accurate' call, the Dustin Martin incident was correct as 'PLAY ON'!

Also, can you now go back and tell your mates the game wasn't lost by all the 'missed' free kicks that you were apparently robbed of.

na disagree what dusty in effect delivered was a throw.
prior has never ever come into it every single time ive seen what dusty did at all levels of the game a free kick has occured.its never been contentious.

simply put it was incorrect disposal or a throw should have been paid a free but was obviously not seen by the ump.
big deal they miss plenty frees nowadays and its the same for both sides.

you are reaching.

and frankly wrong.

my comments where not about this specific throw, but the game as a whole, and they way the umpires have got it wrong for years.

The umpiring on the whole was terrible. We copped the worst of it, but the Martin throw was late in the game so its stuck in bomber supporter's minds.

You have to wonder whether these new interpretations of laws like holding the ball, incorrect disposal, rushed behinds etc have created more issues with regards to consistency than they have solved problems such as Sydney's "tempo"/stoppage football.

Never under-estimate the Geisch's ability to talk technicalities to be able to say "we were right." ;)
