For those that are interested I sent this email last night to the MCC and got the following reply this afternoon:
Why is that I wasn't able to purchase Level 2 (N) premium tickets on the Ticketek website on Monday 5th Sep, as a Club Member and had to settle for Level 3 (P) premium tickets, when Level 2 (N) have been available to buy as late as today, Thursday 8th Sep?
Dear ...,
Thank you for your enquiry and please note that we will be responding on behalf of Ticketek as decisions when to make tickets available is managed by the AFL and MCC. Ticketek is simply following instructions.
To provide some clarification, Level 2 premium seats were available to purchase on Monday in the club member allocation when they went on sale at 9am. Clearly, given their location, desirability and relatively small amount compared to the other price categories, they are always the first to go and therefore sold out quickly on Monday. It is highly likely that when you attempted to purchase tickets in this area on Monday, they had already been allocated.
Since Monday’s club member priory period, followed by public ticket sales on Tuesday, the remaining seats (from other price categories) sold out yesterday. At this point, a decision was made to make available standing room and restricted view tickets, some of which would have fallen on Level 2. This would therefore explain the reason you could see seats available to purchase on Level 2 yesterday.
I hope this helps clarify the situation and I’m sorry you were unable to secure tickets in your desired area. Nevertheless, we hope you have an enjoyable time on Sunday.
