I hit 15, why didn’t I put myself in our side?

Geez, what was I thinking?

That time spent doing an extra team could be spent doing other things that the league needs more
eg Working hard to address the concerning rookie numbers and engagement /activity
How's that panning out? :tearsofjoy:

Oh so it's stats based then and not about posting quality. So I'll assume that those with the highest DT points in their nominated positions that meet the minimal minimum will be selected then. Thanks for the clarification bossman.

So a couple who only posted 5 times a season can be All SFA?

Just to clarify, I presume that’s 15 posts per game posted in (not games played in).

That’s cos Tonga Bob ‘s posting stats are based on the number of games you posted at all.

Capeesh?

Not quite. You're right in saying it's 15 posts per week your team has a match thread regardless of if you play. Any weeks you don't post count towards the mean and the median.

So in a 14 Round season you’d need to post a minimum of 14 x 15 = 210 posts for the season to qualify

Any weeks you don't post count towards the mean and the median.

… unless you start posting later in the season

Just realised how many calculations you did each week

Some would say 280 posts, but yes.

That's why the median is important.

No biggie. Just set up formulae at the start of the season and let Excel do the needful. Work smarter, not harder.

That's not quite the way it works. I'm all for a consideration of posting, etc, but making it another version of the beez, just no.

I don't like the shoehorning of people into positions they never played in just because of media. Who will be the judge of 'quality posting' ? This is all very subjective, the ALL-SFA team should be a more simple concept, I don't see people carrying on about the Mobbs every season.

It seems to me that we want to just reward the same people every season, maybe engagement would be encouraged more by giving everyone else a few crumbs, even if they don't meet your lofty expectations.

It's the reverse now actually.

We auto select plonkers who at times are literally the only player nominated in that position and could very well have been the shittest back pocket of the season, out of same bizarre determination to prioritise position over everything.

Positioning isn't, and has never been, a part of the selection criteria.

'It never has been' isn't a reason to dismiss something, IMO if postion played isn't a consideration, why have an ALL-SFA team at all? Just make a list of the Top20 from the beez .

I don't know, maybe the committee needs new blood if it's incapable of considering anything that has never been done before.

If you want to breathe some new life into the League, then open the doors a bit more rather than doing everything to protect an 'old boys' network. Your job should be to encourage and help others to shine, not bicker over who has the most ALL-SFA nominations.

I know it can seem like this at times, but I guarantee you it is not the case. I have been both inside and outside the tent, and the majority of selections in the majority of seasons, people deserve their spot.

Exhibit a is how many different people get selected every season.

The reason it appears that it's the same people all the time is because they are people who a) are often in prime positions and b) contribute a shit load to this board.

I disagree with the full team almost every season, but looking at it objectively, I reckon ~17/20 are generally pretty spot on.

Contrary to the whinging both in public and private, the Committee in any given season do a very good in selecting the ALL-SFA team.

I've been a member of the committee at ALL-SFA selection time on two occasions, and have seen the 'superior posting' argument being made in real time, looking to replace someone who was best in a position by stats, as well as averaging 40-50 posts a week. I'm not whining about the committee, just this particular process, I think, could be simplified.

My complaint is removing people that have dominated in a position all season and replacing them with somebody who never played there. If you arent the best in the position you played in, what gives you the right to take the place of a person who was the best in their position?

I've always understood it as whatever marker is set being an average in all games played in, which makes sense to me.

If you were somehow the best in your position, having only posted 5 times, then I'd probably be looking to nominate the next person in that category, if they have been more active. Common sense does need to come into it; in fact, I'd be questioning why a team would carry somebody like that through a season. The only reason I can think of is to add to their games played tally. Too much focus on records at times.

That's what is usually done mate.

I assumed that would be the case, just never had that situation come up when I was involved. :thumbsu:

Usually clubs don't nominate players if they don't make the posting requirement.
