Didn't he sign half a year before his contract expired? Did he go courting other offers? Didn't he sign a long term contract? Has it been reported the amount is way over his worth? Didn't he maintain his form throughout the negotiation?

Aside from it being in his last year of contract, this would, given its importance, have been one of the less dramatic resignings in the league in recent times.

The loose writing (or verbal statements in the case of those that feel the need to also appear on our television) these reporters continue to roll out to support the often weak arguments they attempt to make is annoying for the reader and (should be) embarrassing to the journo.

I wouldn't mind the press and in fact I think they want us at the top.

There is little in Melbourne to get people talking quite like a Richmond surge and talk helps sell papers especially at a time when their pet Bluebaggers are irrelevant.

They'll jump on us if we fall but watch them cream themselves if we go top 4.
