Information all over town today is that Richmond and Carlton officials have St Kilda duo Luke Ball and Brendon Goddard in their sights.

In the deal as told to me...the tigers will focus on getting Ball in the PSD and Carlton will focus on getting Goddard into the PSD as well. Both players are uncontracted at the end of season 2004.

Both clubs feel they may be in the last 2 or 3 positions of the ladder. If this eventuates the deal will go ahead and the tigers will try and snare Luke Ball (whose dad was a Richmond player) and Carlton will parade Goddard to Blues fans as the player lost to Carlton through the Draft Penalties ...ultimately the player they got back for their fans.

I am absolutely serious, this rumour is red hot... both players have contracts which finish at the end of this season. Both can go into the PSD. My info is an arrangement has been made by both clubs to get both players in the PSD if we finish 16th and 15th. Luke Balls dad was Ray Ball who played about 20 games or something in the 1970s.

We may be able to. That'll depend on our TPP. It would be a major turn-up for one of the current young guns at St Kilda like Ball to want to leave them now. IMO It would cost $$$ plus a long-term deal for a single player at the very least which is the last thing we need. In any case, we can't do anything about drafting until the end of the year whereas we can make moves now on re-signing Otto and Cogs and winning games.

I have come to the conclusion that the administration has left Frawley at the helm so we wont win games. I agree that we should concentrate on signing Cogs and Ottens now but it doesn't hurt to plan ahead for the draft assuming that Frawley wont be able to get the best out of the team we have now.

As far as the TPP is concerned, we will have the $$ available when we get rid of some of the deadwood.

lol MT, unfortunately we won't be an accidental success. I'm sure that all the opposition supporters think what's happening at Richmond is pretty funny though:(

We had a clean out this year of a lot of duds at the bottom of our player scale and who werent costing us very much anyway.

I just hope the tougher decision is made to get rid of a lot of the higher cost players that keep us at 95% of our salary cap. I just cant believe we are at 95% when we have such an average team that wins 7 games a year.

Ottens and Cogs untouchable and our next 6-7 best. But lets look at offloading a lot of the players making good money, but not performing. Getting rid of the ones down the bottom is the easy decision.

2 or 3 good players out of Pettifer, Houlihan, Dunc, Rogers, Nicholls, Fleming, Hyde

Your dreaming.. get a life.

Bit harsh on Kellaway. Sure he's not going to do anything now but hell the man used to die for us week in week out, but to call him a dud after all hes achieved with very little natural skill. If the remaining list had the hearts of the kellaways then maybe we wouldnt be so bad off. I've never seen guys back into packs like these two do or did.

I was happy when i read the thread and even happier when i finished reading the first supply. It would be brilliant getting luke ball he is an absoulote gem. I cant really see it happening though. I mean would luke ball want to come to richmond. I mean look at us and look at st kilda they have the power to win a premiership in the next few years and they may even give this one a shake.

I would love the addition of ball into our midfield as it would mean we have alot more rotation through quality players in the midfield.

look i have taken this thread with not much seriousness rftarmy but my point is the hacks that l mentioned and there are more of them are getting pretty good cash. I think someone like houlie is on 200....now it is basic math get rid of the hacks means more bucks means we can get 2 or three quality blokes

anyway i have not taken this thread too seriously like you

it is quite rare for a youngster to up and leave over $$$, Joel smith comes to mind and before that Phillip walsh
