I'd just make the deal at the halfway point of the season.
I'm not a fan of mega long contracts especially for someone who has been at the club for so long as it can go sour, but probably something until the end of 2023/2024. So that would lock him in another 3/4 seasons including this one. That's the right balance as it allows you to pivot if things go south, and if we are still flying in 2022 you can always extend another 2 years mid contract.
