Tigers MCG Record vs Non MCG Record

Most sides have a better record at their home ground. Not sure why Richmond is being singled out in this thread?

Lots of interstate hate gunna be in this thread!

If you cannot beat the Tigers at the ground that matters most in September interstate teams are not winning much and that goes for a lot of other Vic teams as well not just Richmond.

Swans seem to be able to do it lately in regards to winning at the G but it stops after that rather abruptly.

Good on the Tigers and if you can make the most important ground in the comp your fortress you deserve the success that comes with it while everyone else will just keep whinging.

Interesting how people only now talk about how big of advantage we have playing at the G with finals and all that, yet its been our home ground for yonks. No talk about it when we were s**t but now that we are a decent team it gets talked about so much more.

Kind of like all the talk with the umpiring bullshit. Always seems like the premiers get a ride from the umps the year after they win a premiership (according to bigfooty).

How many times has Geelong played home finals in its history???

Yeah. Its incredibly disgraceful that Geelong get shafted so massively by the league.

The fact that Geelong has been so good despite routinely only getting 7-8 home games a year and not getting home finals is something all Geelong fans can be proud of.

They talked about it when Collingwood were up and about in 2007-2012 too.

It's just the way it is.

errr because you weren't playing undeserved home finals on your home ground? No one has an issue with Richmond having a home ground, just that it happens to also be the pre-determined location for the grand final.

Exactly right, the issue isn't really with Richmond but how grossly unfair it is that any side can get a home ground grand final vs a side that has to travel. So many sides are 5-10 goal better sides at home so its just a ridiculous advantage that shouldn't exist come the crunch time of the year.

There is an advantage playing in your home state in this comp, non vic sides need to deal with it as it won’t change.
The advantage the Eagles enjoyed today is no different to what Richmond would enjoy at home.
But why should one side have it in a grand final? Why should one side potentially face what is effectively a 5-10 goal handicap??

The G is basically there 2nd home ground. Its not like having to fly to perth to play over there. There was no talk when they were playing home finals at the G and winning, yet when they lost to us at the G last year all of a sudden it was a disgrace that they couldnt play it at Skilled, which would have locked out 60-70k fans from attending. The time they did play a final at there actual home ground, they lost it anyway.

To think that we have 50 more years of this as well!

Tough. Teams get a home final (when they earn it) to maximise their chances of winning. Not to let opposition fans turn up.

Geelong play like 2 home games at the MCG a year. Its hardly a home ground against Richmond in front of 80,000 Richmond fans.

Outside of today's game Melbourne have a poor record at the G under Goodwin. It's not as black and white as home ground = win. Richmond have done well to make themselves almost unbeatable there.
