Tigers reconsider Frawley

Richmond president Clinton Casey has for the first time left the door open for coach Danny Frawley to be sacked mid-season as the Tigers' 2004 AFL season slumped to a new low on Friday night.
Casey, who has asserted that Frawley would definitely see out this final year of his contract, today admitted there could be circumstances under which his position would be considered mid-season.
Richmond slid to a 17th defeat in 19 games and its fourth straight seven-goal plus hiding as the previously winless Adelaide thrashed it by 75 points on Friday night.
"If we thought in any way that Danny Frawley had lost the confidence of the players, that the playing group didn't want to play for Danny Frawley, then and only then would there be a review," Casey said today on Triple M radio.
Even if he survives to the end of the season, Frawley's odds of being Richmond coach in 2005 were minute, given Casey's response today when asked about his chances.
"I would not think it would be in Danny Frawley's best interests to look at contract renewals right now," Casey said.
While conceding "anything is possible" on the coaching position, Casey said there was no evidence that Frawley had "lost" the players even if that contradicted the on-field evidence.
"It's a low watermark but it's round five, we've got 17 games to go," Casey said.
"That's why we're supportive of his position, we are right behind him and ready to assist him in whatever way we can."
Casey also admitted to being "a bit surprised" that Richmond football manager Greg Miller spent last night's match sitting alongside ousted director Tony Jewell, who had been publicly critical of Frawley's ability as a coach.
