CJH,

Can't fit Biddescombe into your best 25??

Strange call indeed Grendel.

I don't think a skinny 18-year-old should be the best 18 (best 22 maybe), let alone an untried draft pick (Pettifer). Surely they would be on the bench or in the twos until they gain confidence and adapt to the standard and pace of play.

Last year Richmond's defence held even after injury (and eventually poor form) wrecked the forward line and midfield.

Why not just leave the back six as they were when Richmond were winning? And Craig Biddescombe and Mark Chaffey were the key players with regard to rebounding from the backline.

Biddescombe not only kept his man quiet week-in-week-out, he also generated more forward thrusts than several of Richmond's vaunted midfielders. Furthermore, he averaged nearly 20 possessions a game and he was one of the best at the club for hitting a target by foot or by hand, under pressure as well.

Any Richmond supporter who can't see that Craig Biddescombe's 2000 season warrants a full-time gig on the half back flank was obviously watching a different team play to the one I watched.

TT,

Actually, no I can't find a spot for Biddiscombe in my top 25. He is a 24 y.o. who has had only one decent season which was leading up to contract renewal time. His career has yielded only 57 games in 6 seasons. (Debut in 1995). I would suggest he is either a depth or tagging player.

Grendel,

We only got to see Fiora for a brief time last season, where he didn't set the football world alight, (7 games only) yet he has been named in each of the 'Best' tiger teams offered. What we have seen shows that this kid has ability by the bucket load. With an extended break last season with the broken foot and also an elongated post season should see him back a bit bigger and stronger this season.

That much ability cannot be ignored.

CJH,

I humbly hand you my "black hat".

You are a very, VERY hard man!

to grendal and TT where do u know when your best team is? start of the season when all are jumping out of their skins during the middle of the season.the reason for fiora while he only played a handful of games last year he showed that he can compete at this level as for pettifer and coughlan well pettifer is from my old stomping ground and i have has mates tell me he,s certainly got the making of a afl player more or less straight away and as for coughlan just call it a gut feeling theirs always a smokie from the draft and its about time we had one.
as for biddescombe yes there is no denying he had a great season as did hilton chaffy etc but there is always a player who has one good season and thats it he goes off the boil i had 3 choices in chaffy, biddescombe or hilton.
i hope im wrong here biddescombe certainly deserves his chance.
cheers!
cheers!
