DANNY Frawley says Richmond will return to basics and a longer, more direct style of play against Geelong at Telstra Dome tonight.
The coach said he was disappointed by the Tigers' chip kicking against St Kilda on Monday, with his team taking the ball inside its forward 50 on just 32 occasions.
He said the players had watched footage of their big Round 1 win over Collingwood in a bid to correct problems that were mostly in their minds.
"You can't buy confidence, it comes with a win," Frawley said yesterday.
"We've had a good, hard look at where we're at, and we had a look at how we played in Round 1 as well. It's important to get back to that style, regardless of the result.
"The players probably didn't realise they were slowing the ball down as much as they were last week until it was highlighted the day after the game.
"Obviously with a short break (five days) we haven't been long on the training track, it's been mainly training their minds.
"I think we're a hell of a lot better than that, so I'm looking forward to a different game tomorrow night, and so are the players."
Frawley said his instructions were simple: "Just run with the ball more, don't hold on to it, don't be afraid to go to a contest."
The Tigers' line-up will include two first-gamers, debutant Thomas Roach, 18, and former Adelaide Crow Ben Marsh, 27, who replaces suspended big man Greg Stafford.
With Matthew Richardson nursing a minor hamstring strain, Jay Schulz, 18, who has played just five senior games, will start at full-forward.
"Obviously, (they are) big shoes to fill, so he'll have to share the work load up there with (Shane) Morrison," Frawley said.
"(Joel) Bowden will play in the midfield, maybe used a little bit more in the forward line this week. (Andrew) Krakouer is is good from, so it's just exciting (to have) a little bit of freshness down there."
Frawley said David Rodan, dropped after playing 47 games in a row for the Tigers since his debut in 2002, would line up for Coburg against Williamstown in the VFL today.
"It's really disappointing," Frawley said. "But he's really keen to get out there. He trained well last night with Coburg. He's keen to get his hands on the ball. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to do that the last couple of weeks."
Frawley said Ray Hall, Andy Kellaway and Ty Zantuck were all options to stand Ben Graham, who has an excellent goalkicking record against the Tigers.
