Tigs First Ever Mock Draft

Don't think menzel will last unti pick 24, but if he is a slider he would be perfect at Richmond. Also think Kennedy is hard to pass up. Hoping due to his size he will slide to the second round but highly doubt it.
Yer I have Menzel ranked at 6 but while he's still out injured it's hard to gauge where he will go and who would take the risk. GWS would probably take the punt at 20 as it's their 2nd pick. Doggies have multiple picks but that may be too early. Not sure the Dees can afford to take the punt on him. If he gets back and finishes the season off well then the risk is reduced.

Good effort Tigs, but you do have Sydney finishing a bit low.
They have a tough run home. From memory I had them 5th/6th then losing to Geelong in a final. Personally I think even though Geelong isn't what they used to be no one will want to cop them in a final with their experience.

Dont think carlton would let stringer slip if he was available at our first pick, same with menzel. Both quality players who may slide but doubt it would be further than the top 15

When I update the order Menzel will go higher. Question will be when he comes back from injury? Does anyone actually know that for sure?

If I had a choice between Vlastuin/Stringer I'd go Vlastuin personally. His kicking skills are a fair way ahead of Stringer. Stringer has more versatility in being able to go forward and being a marking option though.

Verrier was more because I wanted another bigger mid in the mix and maybe my Richmond bias coming in. Chalmers I think will be a late ND or rookie pick. Do you think he has any real special attributes? I'll be honest my WA knowledge is less than the other 2 big states. Haven't even seen highlights of Antonio let alone a full game. Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks Toady. I'm not sure if we will get a crack at MacRae tbh. Think he may go around 20. Shame.

I rate Chalmers over Verrier as a midfielder. Has great aerobic capacity and a super footy brain, also knows where the goals are. Antonio has been playing on the wing, in the middle and up forward for West Perth. Could very well be a late ND pick or rookie aswell.

Chalmers is in my next 2 or 3 on my rankings list now that I've looked at it. Along with Amato. He'll in all likelihood go before Verrier. He'll probably go ahead of Yarran/Warrell as well from WA. What sort of size is Antonio?

Hmm perhaps. Chalmers played a half back role off Warrell on the weekend and got 26 touches and BOG.
Antonio was also very good with the 30+ possessions. Don't quote me, but I think about 176-178cms and between 75-80kgs. Not sure though.

great mock draft, really enjoyed the read. Cheers.

Interesting to see you having the MFC take Sam Dayes at pick 4, guess i better do some research on this kid !

Thanks for the kind words. Mayes is probably my favourite player in this draft. He could easily last till Richmond's pick so I could have tanked him down to their but I rate him very highly so I have him going at 4.

Nice work Tigs. Very good for a first mock draft and I like that you put the effort in to put descriptions in.

It feels like I'm the only one who has Shannon Taylor going in the first three rounds of the draft. Am I missing something? I must be the only one who rates Taylor ahead of Wilkins - better tackler, even quicker again and has more tricks.

Take another look at Wines + O'Rouke. Both will be hard to look over in the top 10. Otherwise really nice first effort and great to have you in with a draft before the bigfooty phantom.

Thanks for the kind words Knightmare. Regards to Taylor, I think he will go higher because it will only take a team or 2 to rate him as a midfielder to see him go say 25-35 range IMO. If he's just a small forward then do you take him that early. I find the disappointing thing with this years draft is there are so many sub 180cm players. Can they all go early on or will some slide and be potential bargains.

I have Wilkins high because I think that purple patch is the sort of thing that will make a team jump in early.

I love O'Rourke. Originally had him at 8? from memory and will probably go 5-10 range so should probably move him tbh. Him and Mayes are probably my 2 favourite prospects in the draft.

Wines will likely go higher as well than where I have him I just have a few question marks over his kicking and hurt factor and how much more improvement he has in him at that size as a bash and crash inside mid. However, he would definitely improve a team instantly.

tigs, what are your thoughts on Emmanuel Irra?
I haven't seen a load of him, but i think he would be perfect for us, given we need another run and carry player, and players with good skills are always welcome.
He's similar to lewis jetta in some ways, but do you think he could potentially become a well rounded afl player, not just a run as fast as you can then kick type.

Who do you hope we get at the tiges? Ben Kennedy sounds a good fit especially considering the doubt around Foley. Wines would be good and give us some depth under Tuck.
Really like O'Rourke. Put him down my order a bit just to change things up. Was doing an update but haven't had time to finish it and post it but I have him top 5. Kennedy would be a good fit as would a Vlastuin as has been mentioned as a possible target on our board.

Currently have us taking Simpson because I think he has the potential to be a star but I think we will take a safer bet in a Vlastuin/O'Rourke type that we feel will be a good solid core player.

Yeah good work but from a Collingwood perspective that looks like a pretty awful draft if that where to go down for us

Out of curiosity, which parts don't you like? I think you will take Stewart to gain some depth in KPF's for the future and as a 3rd rounder is a bit of a bargain. MacRae at that pick will be a bargain if it happens on draft day. Has really improved throughout the year. From what some of the guys on here are saying Thurlow is a better midfielder than defender where I've seen him play. 3 very skilful users of the balls there. 4th round is just some names slapped together so wouldn't be too worried about who I have for you guys there.

He's certainly one of the more intriguing prospects of the draft. TBH not really sure he does enough and I probably have him way too high. He's probably most likely to go very late or rookie. Doesn't win much of his own ball from what I've seen and can really go missing in games. He's going to be a long-term project to whoever decides to take him. Could certainly thrive in your team though being fed the ball by Watson and co and using his footskills to deliver to Hurley/Ryder/Daniher.

Both the first 2 picks are quick and highly-skilled. The other 2 are contested machines. Not super skilled or quick but both have good enough skills.

I really cant see Brisbane taking Plowman it's one spot on the ground we dont really need any player like him in we have Golby Bartlett Adcock Hanley Docerty and Harwood
I'm in the process of updating my mock draft. I think I have you taking Wines, Rodda, O'Brien with your 1st 3 picks followed by Chalmers and Membrey to round out the main draft.
