Ok so please dont misquote this as im not trying to compare him to Judd as a player - but gamestyle I would say he can be likened to a Judd. Good balance and accelleration from a pack......and a really good willingness to get into the contest. Obviously he has a long way to go but things are looking good for a kid with a smallish frame (although he is not skinnny he will still need to add 5-10kgs to match bigger body mids).
I think he could come into the team right away and would not disappoint - however I would be fully supportive of the club if they just allowed him to develop this year at VFL level
He's a much better kick than Judd... thank God.

You heard it here first, PepperFace says Judd isn't fit to lick Broomy's boots.

I Learnt journalism from Caro.;)

Liked his Pack and Ball Use.

Did remind me a lot of Nick Davis but Harder at the Ball

Nick Davis, aim higher. I'm gunna go with Simon Black.:thumbsu:

What you wrote is too intellegent for Caro.....

I haven't got to the part where it turns out Broomy is a leading underworld figure involved in illegal guernsey trading and was trained by Kony. Something Eddie knew full well about and should resign.

Both have good height as well Broomhead 181 and Seedsman 189 same with Faz at 181 complements the height of Blair, Thomas, Elliott and Kennedy

Nice to see that he's over 180 in the current recruiting environment, but would you really call that "good height?"

There is nothing wrong with a 6" midfielder. As long as hes the next best footballer in the draft (in the opinion of derek hine), then I dont care if hes 170cm

I haven't had much of a chance to see him in the Magoo's, is there any current player you would liken him to? Do you think he'll come in and have an immediate impact ala Beams / Rusty?

Been said by others that he's like a quick Sidebottom with Didak's disposal skills. That's as good a description as I've seen.

Obviously there's differences of opinion here and Hine obviously agrees with you, so my opinion is about as worthless as footballer with no arms..... however, I dont like short people in the team. I can stomach a few if they're good overhead or have blistering pace but not "just" a good footballer.

Doesn't have the explosive pace of Judd but who does. Sidebottoms game style would be the best comparsion but I doubt he would beat Sidebottom in endurance. He is probably a poor mans Sidebottom as we speak.

Can I ask which games you saw of his at Port Adelaide and what it was about him that didn't make you think he was a 1st or 2nd round pick?

saw them twice near the end of the season against Norwood and North Adelaide. Didnt really notice him

I actually dont think he is anything like sidebottom. He actually threw his body in at contests on the weekend and showed good foot skills. Sidebottom is a nice neat one paced player who can run all day......but doesnt have great desire to get in and under

For a midfield player yes now everyone will be in the 189 range like Kennedy at Swans and Pendles

Typical Collingwood draftee wank thread. It would be nice to see someone actually put out a balanced assessment of the player rather than stupid ridiculous comparisons that don't even make sense based on the players strengths.

And 181cm is definitely undersized for a midfielder. It's not 1970 anymore.

So You Want 200cm Midfielders do you?

Ah they were two of his quieter games throughout the year, however he did kick goal of the day against North in that game at alberton which showed clean pick up, strength to break tackle, composure to steady under pressure and class to finish from a tight angle out near the scoreboard! Anyone who saw him in over the course of the year could see he was a first rounder without doubt.
Well known in recruiting circles that if Joe Daniher could've been taken in 2nd round (Viney at Melb) then Essendon would've taken him at pick 10!

you based in Adelaide?

I'm perfectly happy to get big grunt midfielders and have put that at the top of my wishlist for recruiting at the end of the year, but 181cm is hardly too small for midfield. Strength and player type is more important. If you're a strong tough nut, I think you can carry a few shorties. The issue with our young midfielders is balance. Pretty much all of them are small and most of them still need a few years to bulk up.

But to compare with Sydney's younger midfielder brigade, J. Kennedy is massive, but K. Jack is 177cm, D. Hannebery is 182cm, L. Parker is 183cm and T. Mitchell is 181cm.

end of the year i hope we go a big body midfielder, someone like jesse lonergan (suns) with our first rounder and a fast medium defender (to replace toovey in a few years) then with the rest of our picks upgrade martin/dywer/mooney/frost

Where did that come from?

Anyway considering you've labeled this a draftee wank thread and ask for balanced assessment perhaps you could provide it yourself? What comparisons make sense to you based on his strengths?

There's no need to bring down a positive thread about a 19yo kid that's put together 3 very classy performances in his first three matches simply because you don't agree with everything posted.
