Rd 1 & Rd 2 is 18 and 36 from our perspective. Vastly different to dealing with a low finishing club. Freo won't offer pick 5 and don't have a Rd 2 pick anyway.

18 is gone, but we'll probably have 20 after Lynch and Lycett compo is awarded. 36 will be ~40.

Hasn't the whole argument been that 20 and 37 (or whatever they end up being) is wildly inadequate?
Not really interested in your perspective. Only in ours.

Pick 20 will cover the Pick we used on Tim and a pick in the 8-10 range will cover acquiring Tim.

So best u get on the phones to Essendon, Port, NM even GWS at a stretch. See what u can get for Venables, Nelson, Petrucelle etc...

Still reckon your Lycett compo will be compromised by Hickey or Roughead acquisition.

It is actually Pick 20 but what has to be considered is what comes in .... with Tom Hickey and/or Jordan Roughead. This will have a NETT effect on what comes as compensation.
As for the Pick 20 and an up grade from 50 to 40 as the second part is nowhere near good enough for Kelly.
The talk was for 20 & 22 to start with... We want a mid first rounder(10) not a second rounder or combination of... you've just gone backwards.
That's one strong assumption.

Riiiight. So you want a Rd 1 & Rd 2 pick but from another team. Add that to the list of things that don't happen in reality.

We aren't acquiring pick 8-10 in this draft to package with pick 20 to trade to Geelong.

The sum of the parts of the outlay would be absurd.
Absurd?? Like 20 & 37 absurd?? or like 20 plus Brander absurd?? What shade of absurd we talking about??

Dont worry to absorb the absurdity we'll give you our Pick 47.

Pick 8-10 on its own is considered overs. I understand ambit claims but they need to be in the realms of possibility. When people suggest round 1 and 2 picks, they aren't suggesting top 10 pick and the very first pick of the second round.

You have pick 11.

Think about what you would want in picks for that. There's no emotion in pick trades and picks are completely tradeable. It' simply a case of what pick(s) you would consider trading it for.

Ignoring Kelly, I imagine if we offered Geelong 19 (Lycett compo) + 21 (GC second) for pick 11 they would say no. This year's draft is rated as a strong one but under normal circumstances it would take more like a 2019 Rd 1 pick plus 19 to get it done, if not more. That's for pick 11. For pick 8 from whoever has it it would cost more again still. Ask Hawthorn RE: St Kilda and O'Meara.

We'd end up trading 2019 Rd 1 pick, pick 19, pick 21 and pick 38 just to get Kelly. That is the level of absurdity.

I’m saying it’s a restraint of trade that professional footballers can’t choose the club they wish to play for. They nominate for the draft and get told which club they will play for. It’s by it’s very essence a restraint of trade. Are you suggesting that there’s no restraint of trade in the whole draft process?
Im saying if you consider the Kelly situation to be a restraint on trade then every player draft in all sports should be considered a restraint on trade as well. Ill take having a system that doesn't allow for a handful of clubs to dominate competition consistently like the English Premier League over what you are implying, which is basically to allow players to choose their club of choice without even meeting the obligation of entering the draft to begin with. If Tim Kelly didn't want to sign up to go to the club that selects him for his first two years on a afl list then he shouldn't have entered the National Draft to begin with and just continued to play for South Freo. Sure as hell no one forced Tim to enter the draft where his obligations in going to the club that selects him are pretty clear. The precedent set if Tim Kelly does get traded would be a terrible one and I hope it doesn't happen.

Something like a 2nd round pick + some reject reserve player of yours for one of our best players who is 24.

Am I doing this right from the “realism” not absurd side of west coast???

Points are an average of average of games but each draft different and quality over quani
No the Eagles are expected to receive 'pick19' as compensation for Lycett so that could be what is on offer for Kelly? ...and a possible pick 37 for a late Cats pick(49)?!?
Did not know that Lycett would leave at the time.

Seems like Geelong only cares about family when you have a bald head and play up at Gold Coast

Disgusting club really
What are you talking about?? What a stupid uneducated post. We traded pick 19 + our second rounder for a 33 year old riddled with injury problems.

I don’t know if such a trade has ever happened before. We paid massive overs.

If west coast care about the family well being of poor kelly, they can pay fair value to bring him home.

How is Geelong a disgusting club? Tim asked for a trade and by all reports the Cats are willing to play ball
They have belittled him in the media and really behaved like a jealous ex girlfriend during the whole saga.

Its been insanely unprofessional so far.

Id like to think Kelly has seen the current approach and just went home never to return. Id never turn back up to work after the treatement he has gotten from Geelong the last 2 weeks

No respect or class

That part is irrelevant completely. Im more along the lines of "He isnt going anywhere whether he likes it or not" like lack of understanding.
