I imagine these discussions have been going on for a couple of months. Kelly's request to explore trade options would not have come as a surprise to either club.

We don't have pick 12-15, but can match that in points for whatever that is worth. Apparently not much to a lot of people.

Brander was pick 13 and if he requested a trade to Victoria would be a begrudging potential trade. But Brander + a borderline Rd1/Rd2 pick is silly.
Best you do a deal with clubs that have then. As i've said before you have to please us not the other way round.

Beauty when he does we'll give u our 2nd rounder in 2019 since he's shown very little to date at AFL level. lol.

Pick 8-10 on its own is considered overs. I understand ambit claims but they need to be in the realms of possibility. When people suggest round 1 and 2 picks, they aren't suggesting top 10 pick and the very first pick of the second round.
By you. Not by us.
Pick 10 for Tim and Pick 22 for the pick we used on him and have Pick 47 back at ya.
Walk away if u think the price is too steep.
Cheers!

What a trash thread this is. People hurling shit like monkeys.

For what it's worth, I reckon it gets done for Lycett Compo (20) and 37 which equates to just above pick 10 in points. Neutrals and the media seem to be reporting Kelly's worth as in the 10-15 range, which I for one agree with. WCE has a pretty long tradition of paying rather than playing hardball.

I'm not huge on the whole points system. The only thing it is relevant to is getting father sons and academy's.

I never said Brander plus a round one or two selection. He was pick 13 in last year's draft so I don't think him on his own is far off fair value.

I don't really rate it either. Pick 4 is basically equal to 17 and 18. Righto, of course it is...

But it along with future pick trading gives a bit more flexibility. Clubs needing points are more likely to trade early picks and clubs with bugger all to trade can offer future picks which may or may not be more valuable to a club depending on their academy or F/S prospects.

If this was 10 years ago Geelong would be fecked. We'd have picks 18 and 36 (16 and 32 if you take out GC & GWS) and that's it. Every year people say 'well why don't you just trade <player who is usually better than the one coming in>?' but it's not that simple. Players rarely agree to being trade bait and AFL clubs usually go one way or the other with picks and players. You either let players go to get picks if you are rebuilding or you let picks go to get players if you are contending. You don't see wholesale players in/players out turnover like you would see in the NBA.

Herald Sun saying Geelong likely to demand top 10 pick or a first rounder & player like Brander
Big Frazis like Brander - but as close as it will get re players. FFF - we dont push out players. Geelong are not pushing kelly out wither but his circumstances are close to unique in AFL circles.

I think both clubs are more mature than some on BF and most of the media
