Tim Kelly's regret

Seriously? This is the first I’ve ever heard. I thought he was regarded as one of the nice guys???

Yeah, I believe it's common knowledge generally within the RFC fanbase and the locals from Kyabram where he grew up.

Quite full of himself, minimal time for junior players at the club and not much for fans/kids either.

It was clear in 2016 that he'd had enough of RFC, wasn't really trying that hard, and just wanted to get out. I don't necessarily blame him in a sense but I also don't think it's coincidental that the club took a big change to their leadership style, culture/group connection etc and he left as they became successful.

Kelly will be going on 33 when Harley Reid’s initial contract at WC is up. In that time Darling, McGovern, Barass, Duggan, Yeo, Ryan, Cripps, Waterman will all be gone or north of 30. Harley will be out of there like a shot..I wonder if it is in WC’s interest to shift him before then and get some picks?

Is he out of contract?
If not there’s no reason for him to leave.
He’s set himself up financially and done incredibly well for himself. It’s highly doubtful he’d shift his family for the sake of on field success.

Shift Harley, not Tim. Old man Kelly will be the most highly rated person on the list other than a frustrated Reid unless someone like Gimby steps up..could be a long time yet in the wilderness for the Weagles.

Is it time for a Tim Taranto regret discussion?
Feel sorry got him. He ( or his manager) should have analysed the Richmomd list better, it was clear the best players where getting close to retirement.

Will Reid be a free agent after 3 years?

Don't bait the troll - its the same kind of comment as "Harley won't go to West Coast" - it's just meaningless speculation.

Though in Boppo's defense, they supports a club that has a terrible record at keeping players, so it's what they're used to

I'm sure he doesn't regret it from a family perspective, but does from a football perspective.

I remember being salty he wanted to leave but more than pumped with what we received for him. He was never worth close to that.

Sounds like he's having regrets.

How could you not regret coming to a team that turns into a basket case?

Pretty much anyone who was not a lock at their prior club or was delisted saying otherwise, is fibbing due to being smarter/having better self awareness (at least until they retire and are honest).

Bit like saying Willy doesn't regret pulling cones and have a bottle of Gatorade handy, Lachie Neale, Ed Langdon, Peter Bell, Leigh Brown, Trent Croad etc don't regret being traded from Freo to win premierships, Hirdy not regretting pointy things, Gary Ablett not regretting doing drugs with young girls, Gary Lyon not regretting doing Billy's missus, Joel Smith not regretting texting, the Demons not regretting not offloading a ranga, Carey not regretting finding himself in a toilet, with a wine glass or with a baggie of white powder at a casino.

I don’t think it’s a huge issue unless it impacts his efforts.

Most AFL players hate their job, I think that’s been revealed before in surveys. Millions of people watching your every move at work and after work will do that.

Regret? He's sliding it in as we speak....

He won't regret anything, but every major decision in life comes with grief knowing that you have turned down a different opportunity.

So there will be some grief over possibly missing a premiership, but I sincerely doubt he will regret his decision altogether.

Family first, especially your kids, over everything else, always.

re: Deledio, Vickery, Conca etc - my honest opinion is that we wouldn't have achieved premiership success with them at the club. Deledio was a great player but reportedly not a good cultural contributor at the club, probably the opposite, and his trade netted us Caddy who was a solid contributor both on & off field during those first few years.

Conca was at the club in 2017-2018. He missed most of 2017 with injury, but played most of 2018 including both finals. To my understanding Richmond couldn't afford to pay him well with Lynch coming on good money for 2019, Freo made a decent offer and snapped him up as a free agent. He was immediately employed by Melbourne FC as a Player Development Manager on retirement as a player after their 2021 flag.

As far as I have always read he is of excellent character and has been a very positive cultural influence everywhere he has been.

The last two year was made to play injured with hip and knee injuries the coach wouldn't give him the time of to completely heal himself.
Was too important so pushed through didnt help his form
He was one that was very happy for the new coach

he struggled with simmo's chip style game plan
when we have played a faster more direct style, Kelly looks a different player
