He will coach the Saints for the rest of season 2000, then let someone else try to resurrect the team.
So, St. Kilda are in a similar position to Collingwood-99 I think, but their problem is that they recruited older players (eg Monkhorst), and have Burke, Harvey, Loewe etc who will also retire soon.

So, is Tim Watson a coach, or didn't he have the cattle?

I don't really care that he may not have had the cattle.

Wht did he have to quit the week that Geelong plays them?

You know what happens when a coach quits mid year? They always win the next week!

Thanks a lot Tim

This situation may be different, because he is not leaving the club yet, he is leaving after the season is over. If Geelong kicks more points than goals again, the Saints might have a chance. Geelong better not take them lightly though. They must go in determined to improve (their goalkicking) and really dominate St. Kilda, and I'm sure that will happen.

He should have resigned. The way he has been carrying himself this year has been bloody disgraceful. He mopes around looking like a loser. Surely that must rub off onto the players.

OK, he's had a disappointing season. That's no excuse for his constant childish, downtrodden appearance. He should have quit long ago. At least Tony Shaw always remained positive and up-beat. Tim's performance has been pathetic.

That wouldn't surprise me, Dave, after the way St. Kilda betrayed Stan Alves, but I don't think the logic is right.

Watson, and coaches in general, are good at displaying a facade to the media and I think the Talking Footy interview is irrelevant.

Dave,

I neglected to mention in the other Watson thread that despite him ceasing his tenure at the club a year before the end of his contract, he has announced that he will not claim to be paid out of his contract. (over $400,000 for next year)

I would think that someone who was 'pushed' or 'sacked' would in fact contest his right to remain entitled to the rest of his pay specified in his contract. Doesn't sound like someone that was sacked to me.

He has potentially saved the club from a huge payout and I have an even higher opinion of the man.

Good on you Tim!

Leave Tim Watson alone, Kevin Sheedy, Mick Malthouse, Denis Pagan, David Parkin it doesnt matter if any of the above were coaching the saints this year they would still be in last. The Saints suck it aint Watsons fault.

2000 the year of the eagle
