Mid season trade. If only.

Seriously though, why doesn't our code have some sort of injured player reserve?

It's meant to be the premier code in the country but we have teams short in certain areas because of injuries with adequate replacements running around at lower levels.

I've never understood why teams can't place a player on a long term injury list and get a short term replacement

Think it's the only code in the country with that sort of rigidity about player movements as well. Player lists 100% locked in in November for a season that runs April-September. Does any other top-level league have that?

I'd doubt it and it makes no sense. It also limits opportunities for mature age players who would be the biggest beneficiary of the ability to top up lists to cover for injuries

As the thread title says - Get Rance before the dorkers do
I wouldn't have even contemplated this 3 weeks ago but Mackenzie and now Mitch Brown going down I think it's worth discussing.
That would also free up McGovern to go forward.
Surely we can fit him in our salary cap because there ain't to many A graders of his calibre in our side.
Your thoughts
we are bottom 4 in my opinion why try for rance might as well rebuild .. western bulldogs didnt need defenders because their midfield dominated and ball was in their fwd 50 whole game ... we need a midfield cleanout

if mzungu is a midget our midfield are insects
Mzungu is 182cm's. Every single one of our midfielders are either the same height, or taller. Only Chris Masten is shorter.

But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your argument.

i mentioned barlow as well but the only mature age we drafted was hutchings 181 and quite slow and plays short .. but still your argument has no facts
gaff 181 shuey 183 hutchings 181
mzungu is 183 but he must have long arms cos he plays taller outmarks every one of our mids

Expecting a Zac Dawson type of initiation for Barrass.
They won't play him. An all seriousness any one of Yeo/Hurn/McInnes would do a better job as a KPD in the short term. Probably even Shep

This. Barrass is weeks at best away from AFL standard. No point dropping him in the deep end.
About 100 weeks IMO. Will be a player but needs a few years in the WAFL

But they should. IF they believe he is the next KPD, then he has to be played. Underdone or not, I don't care. Glass (and I'm not saying Barrass will be in his league) was god awful when he first started and we've lost the FB and CHB, so we might as well play him for experience. It might cost us games this year, but may help us win games in the future.

I'd like to see him crack the Seniors at East Perth first

And we have a Pre-Season Draft and Rookie Draft a whole 6 days after the National Draft.

I don't know why we don't have at least the PSD if not both after the NAB Cup.

As far as list sizes and supplementary players go eventually a team is going to end up with less than 22 fit players to choose from. The ever proactive AFL will come up with a (sub-standard) solution then.
