I'd like to see him crack the Seniors at East Perth first
Ordinarily I would agree, but we have lost our FB and CHB, so we've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Barrass is more of a natural FB, IMO, than say a McGovern or bringing a McInnes in to pinch it, so why not utilise him, ready or not?

One of the commentators suggested yesterday we should be able to call up the other Mitch Brown. Not the worst idea.
or we could just swap Mitch for Nathan pretend that Mitch (Nathan ) had a miraculous recovery and that Nathan ( Mitch) had some kind of freak trampoline accident over the weekend and done his knee.

Only st kilda might be worse
Well, the Dogs were one of the few sides I was confident we would beat this season, and we saw how that went. I think Carlton is a 50/50 game because of our injuries. Will our midfield be able to keep up with GWS's exciting talent? Big concerns IMO.

Carlton probably bottom 4 as well so should be a close game

Midfield is the key issue I think. We need to be better in that regard so we can limit the exposure of our defence against sides that would otherwise cream them in the position they are now. Only thing is that our midfield is just as bad as our defence, and they're considered "full strength". :(

This exactly! All these problems stem from our midfield being so bad that we are overly dependant on our backline.
I bet if some of the top teams had 2 of their starting defenders missing they could still cover, win matches etc... because they restrict the supply!!

It's about working both ways, and our problem is we have a bunch of front-running, mentally weak midfielders

Yep, agreed. Our back line yesterday showed that they can more than hold their own when the 50 is congested. My worry is against teams with the big power forwards like Adelaide, Geelong, Hawthorn & Sydney. We will easily be outmuscled if the supply into their forward line is fast and clean. We need the midfield to restrict the supply or at least prevent clean supply.

Bad news for Brown

West Coast has today confirmed that defender Mitch Brown has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Brown’s knee buckled midway through the first quarter of West Coast’s clash with the Bulldogs on Saturday night and he was taken from the field on a stretcher.

An MRI has confirmed that the 26-year-old will require a second reconstruction on his left knee, which he first injured in 2008 during a pre-season match against Collingwood.

A decision is yet to be made on whether Brown will opt for the LARS treatment or go down the traditional route.

Brown will join fellow backman Eric Mackenzie on the sidelines, after the 2014 Worsfold medallist suffered a similar injury in the club's first NAB Challenge fixture.

Vice-captain Josh Kennedy delivered the news to the media this afternoon and said that Brown has maintained a positive attitude.

"It’s a confirmed ACL which is disappointing for us and for Mitch," Kennedy said.

"I think the scans came back last night and confirmed it.

"He’s done it before and now he’s going down that same path again.

"It’s sad, it’s football, it’s a part of it.

"Brownie’s been through it before and... on the way back [from Melbourne] he was high-spirited about it all."

Lose to Carlton and the sky really will be falling.... hard!

We should win against the Blues (yes I do remember last year when Yarran ran circles around us BUT...) letting that game go against the Doggies will come back to haunt us. Glass must be kicking himself watching from the outside, oh wells if we ever needed to blood our youngsters, its now I suppose

At this stage I don't think we're going to be looking back on any particular game as being the loss that cost us a spot in the 8 :(
