Well thank f### Simmo trialed so many options for KPd in the preseason... oh wait!

Honestly, wtf is the preseason for if not to trial for these contingencies. Now we're at the following options:
1. Offensive 3rd tall who bulked up in the off season but isn't match fit and got KO'd on the weekend.
2. Tall KPf who's never played/been trialed in defence and isn't very agile.
3. KPD development prospect who's never played a seniors WAFL game.

Feel bad for Brown, but given his history this wasn't unexpected.

So can someone explain to me while I'm here how an acl tears that easy? Both of ours have been from nothing. Are AFL players building their bodies the wrong way?

I was saying earlier that I hope the extra upper body weight might put additional strain on the joints. I did my ACL when I was a bit heavier up top.....

Guess that there are probably no plans to bring any fringe/young players as a 2nd/3rd tall atm, seems like Yeo and Rosa will be asked to fill in until a better option develops. Good to hear that Schoey will play on Friday.
Kennedy said Yeo was likely to play alongside Jeremy McGovern and Will Schofield as the third tall defender after gaining experience in the role during the pre-season.
Schofield was bothered by an ankle injury over summer and played for East Perth against Subiaco last Friday. He received a heavy bump from Shane Yarran during the game and also looked hindered by his ankle complaint, but was yesterday cleared to face the Blues, despite being restricted to walking laps at training.
“Yeoy has been able to play on talls,” Kennedy said. “With match-ups and who we play, it’s going to change every week. But we’ve got Yeoy down there and we’ve also got Matty Rosa, who can also come back and play down there as well.”
“We’ve all had a good pre-season and it’s exciting because we’re a pretty young list and we’ve got guys developing who are probably now going to get a chance.”

It's already been mentioned..but i also stated last year i was unhappy with Blayne Wilson being delisted. The kid had some talent, read the ball well, good mark, good kick. Just a tad small for a KPP. But jeez he would be handy.
We lost a lot of drive by having Hurn, Shepherd and Yeo on the talls.
Yeo should also get some time in the midfield rotation. We need another rotation player who can get the hard pill.
So we don't have him then unfortunately lets get one of these "developing"players in and get them some experience.
I mean i didnt even want McGovern there and if he was there I wanted him sweeping ala Johnson

Yeah i'm not going to lie, the fact Mcinnes was the sub in that final game againt fremantle and wasn't given exposure down back after Mackenzies injury is very baffling. And also Lamb, who has played down back in the TAC cup.

Am i the only one who was surprised Simmo didn't use Lamb down back against the bulldogs? Initially i thought he'd be thrown straight back there after Browny's injury. It's not completely foreign to him, and he's a competitor.

interesting that he is not interested in lars - i would have thought that an injury prone guy like him who has a chance to make a mark this season with emac out would have leapt at it
It's because LARS is entirely bodgy...

Rosa as a KPF is much more preferable than Yeo. By no means a first choice defender, but I'd rather his bigger body and experience there plugging a hole while Yeo could actually bring improvement and a point of difference to our midfield.

West Coast has today confirmed that defender Mitch Brown has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Brown’s knee buckled midway through the first quarter of West Coast’s clash with the Bulldogs on Saturday night and he was taken from the field on a stretcher.

WATCH: Brown injures knee

An MRI has confirmed that the 26-year-old will require a second reconstruction on his left knee, which he first injured in 2008 during a pre-season match against Collingwood.

A decision is yet to be made on whether Brown will opt for the LARS treatment or go down the traditional route.

Brown will join fellow backman Eric Mackenzie on the sidelines, after the 2014 Worsfold medallist suffered a similar injury in the club's first NAB Challenge fixture.

Vice-captain Josh Kennedy delivered the news to the media this afternoon and said that Brown has maintained a positive attitude.

"It’s a confirmed ACL which is disappointing for us and for Mitch," Kennedy said.

"I think the scans came back last night and confirmed it.

"He’s done it before and now he’s going down that same path again.

"It’s sad, it’s football, it’s a part of it.

"Brownie’s been through it before and... on the way back [from Melbourne] he was high-spirited about it all."
