Sorry, i couldn't see it as one of the categories.

I think freo beat the Hawks in the GF. I'm tipping Bennell to absolutely light it up this year. Top 5 finish in the brownlow.

TIME CAPSULE 2016 RESULTS

It's an interesting exercise looking through all the predictions at the start of the year. Not so much to belittle those who made whacky predictions (although that's always good sport). It's more to appreciate how our perceptions have shifted over the year. Like we all thought Stringer was going to smash the comp this year.

So this first set of results is just a bit of a look at what we predicted. (I'll leave aside ScragCity's misere bid, although it's good for a chuckle.)
The actual winners and the leaderboard still needs some finishing touches so that will follow in the next day or so.

WESTERN BULLDOGS
WB Wins (actual result was 15):
We were pretty good with this one. 18 out of 43 got it right. The outliers were Mofra (18) and at the pessimistic end Flamethrower (10) and immortalmike (9).

Finishing Position (7th):
Only four picked us for 7th. Most popular was 4th (11) and 5th (10). Outliers were flamethrower (12th) and immortalmike (13). What were they thinking?

Progress in Finals (Flag):
Most picked us to fall at the PF again (17) and a lot thought only the second week (15). Only 6 had the temerity to say we'd win the flag. Two (yes the same two) said we wouldn't even make the finals!

Charles Sutton Medallist (Bont-Morris-Hunter):
Bont was the clear pre-season favourite - 13 people out of 44 picked him to win and another 20 picked him to run a place. Nobody picked Moz and only four picked Hunter for a place. Wallis and Macrae were well-fancied (each was picked 9 times to win) and Stringer was picked by 5 people.

Leading Votegetter in the Brownlow Medal (Bont 20):
Bont was an even bigger favourite here. 23 people picked him but only one (Eugoogoolizer ) picked the right number of votes. Macrae (8.5), Stringer (6) and Wallis (3) were the next most fancied.

Leading Goalkicker to Rd 23 (Stringer 37):
Stringer was the long odds-on favourite (picked 34.5 times). There were really only four in it. The others were Dickson (5.5), Tom Boyd (2.5) and Redpath (0.5). Werewolf deserves a special mention here. He said he had jinxed players in the past so he went for Goetz instead of the obvious favourites. Well, it worked WW! Anyway it should be a much more interesting and open field in 2017.

How many games will Adcock play? (7):
This was the novelty question and only four got it right. Outliers were Mattdougie and Pogba (15) and Fossie 32 (1). Nobody said zero.

All Australians (2, Bont and Matt Boyd):
Most thought we'd get 3 AAs (22 picks) and fair enough too. When was the last premier to only have two AAs? There were 11 who thought we'd have two, but some of those had neither Bont nor Boyd! Overall 23 picked Bont and nobody picked Moyd. Stringer (40) was the raging hot favourite after his AA year in 2015. Wood (17) and Dahlhaus (13) were also popular choices.

Most Improved (Roughead):
Nobody picked Roughy. Most popular were Campbell (11), Toyd (9) and Hrovat (8). Hmmmm...

Most Courageous (Libba):
Libba was the most popular choice (10) just ahead of Picken (9) but there was a wide range of opinion with eighteen different players nominated.

Best First Year Player (Dunkley):
There were only three players anyone was interested in - Dunkley (22), Collins (11.5) and Adams (10.5).

Rising Star Nominations: (2, Daniel, Dunkley):
Most people thought we'd get 3 nominations (19) but quite a few got it right with two (14). Some, like VitalDread were wildly optimistic with six nominations! 37 got Daniel right and another 14 picked Dunkley. The most popular though was Toby McLean (38). He probably cruelled his chances when injured mid-season. Bailey Dale (17) was also popular).

Most Kicks (M.Boyd):
Most people thought this would go to Macrae (18) or Murphy (8). Only four picked Moyd.

Most Handballs (Macrae):
Most thought it would be Wallis (17) or Libba (13). Macrae was third pick (10).

Most Marks (M.Boyd):
Moyd fooled them again. Only four picked him. The favourites were Wood (22) and Macrae (9).

Most Tackles (Bontempelli):
We thought Libba (35) was a certainty for this. The only others given any serious consideration were Dahl (5) and Wallis (3). Nobody picked Bont. Underestimate him at your peril!

Most Goal Assists: (Bontempelli and Picken shared this with 20 GAs each):
Only four people picked Bont and nobody thought it was worth pickin' Picken. The most popular choices were Dahlhaus (11) Stringer (10) and Daniel (7).

Membership at the official close-off date (39,459):
Only 2 people got the 2 bonus points for being within 200 of the right answer: Libba39 (39,281) and Wizard17 (39,569) who also gets the four points for being nearest the pin. He was only 110 out. Outliers were immortalmike (again) with 32,232 and fronkalicious (34,768) while at the optimistic end there was VitalDread (43,000). Maybe next year, VD!

VFL
Will Footscray make the VFL finals (Y):
This was a charity point which nearly everyone (42) claimed. Only ossie_21 and fargy turned it down.

B&F for Footscray (Russell):
Only three got this right. The Rat was the favourite choice (11).

Leading Goalkicker for Footscray (Nick Jamieson):
Nobody got this right, not even Fossie. The (jinxed) Goetz was favourite with 13 picks. After that was Redpath (9).

AFL
Premiers (Western Bulldogs!):
Only the celebrated six got this right - Mofra, Leon, godogs15, fargy, Mike__ and TempletonTheRat. For some reason most of us went for West Coast (25) and then the WB. After that there was Hawthorn (5), Freo (5!) and Sydney (3). Nobody else.

Runners-Up (Sydney):
Hawthorn (15), Freo (7) and curiously Port (6) were the most fancied as runners-up. Four picked the WB and only four picked WCE. Only 2 picked Sydney correctly.

Wooden Spooners (Essendon):
They were raging hot favourites too (32). Carlton were next (9) and then Brisbane (3).

Brownlow Medal (Dangerfield):
Danger (8) was a narrow favourite from Fyfe (6), Ablett (5) and the Bont (5). Two chose Macrae and one went for Stringer!

Coleman Medal (Kennedy 80):
This was a popular win with 20 picking him. Mofra and Doggies_13 also predicted the exact number of goals (up to Rd 23). After Kennedy it was wide open. Five chose Buddy and four chose The Package (who failed to deliver).

Rising Star (Mills):
This was pretty even with Mills, Daniel and McLean all being picked 8 times. Five went for Petracca and three for Weitering.

Biggest Drop (Fremantle, easily)
Only six picked Freo. Norf (14), Sydney (9) and Adelaide (8) were the most picked.

Biggest Rise (Geelong):
It's surprising to think Geelong weren't even in the finals last year. They just pipped GWS for the biggest rise. Quite a few picked them (10) but the favourite was GCS (12).

Biggest Shitstorm:
Well there weren't too many inspiring entries here, most going with the tired old Essendon drug saga. I think my favourite twist on it was from immortalmike : "Hawthorn found to have also instigated an injection regime with last year's taunt by Sam Mitchell actually just a tutorial on proper procedure." Ah, now that WOULD have been a shitstorm!

Yes I could sense the ambivalence. You said we'd reach the Grand Final but didn't actually say we'd be premiers but by the time you got to the question "who will be premiers" you must've thought, ahh why not? I originally had you down for tipping us to be runner-up on that first question but I'll be lenient and give you the four points. (Hint: it's not going to affect the top 10! ;))
