Just a poll to see whether it is worthwhile to set up a simple 'PREDICTION' competition before the season starts. The competition thread will be locked by Bluey before the start of the season. This thread can sit with the team boards and be read at anytime of the season but can not be changed. Only one entry per registered user.
When making your predicitons don't let your heart rule your head. Take into account possible form fluctuations, injuries, emotions, acts of god, home grounds, coaches, idiot presidents, umpires and I think we will find that the final results will make us all look quite foolish as there are always surprises.
By actually having to formally write down your predictions we wont have the so called experts during the year saying "I picked the cats to finish in the top 8" or "I knew Woewodin would win the brownlow", its all down in writing. You also woudn't have to continually answer threads like 'wooden spooners', 'top 8', 'buckley for brownlow'.
The competition could go something like this:-
1. pick the top 8 after the home and away -for 1 point each correct pick - (8/8)
2. pick the grand finalists - 1 point per correct pick (2/2)
3. pick the norm smith medallist (3 points)
4. pick the premiers (2 points)
5. pick the browlow medallist (3 points for first, 2 for second, 1 for third)
6. pick the players association player of the year (2 points)
7. pick the coleman medallist (2 points)
8. pick the wooder spooner (2 points)
Total: 24 points
A results table could also be formulated along the lines of:
1 - 5 (go and follow soccer stupid)
6 - 10 (border line moron)
11 - 15 (keen supporter)
16 - 20 (football genius)
21 - 24 (get a life)
If you think this competition would be worthwhile let bluey know so that we can set it up.
