Time for a drastic change

A 20 team comp with 20 rounds would make for an even draw. The indication from the AFL is they want a team in NZ and add to that a team in Tasmania, so then you would have 20 teams.
However, this scenario will never happen because of high money spinning games when big 4 clubs play each other, the AFL and the clubs involved will always want to play each other twice.
There are no obvious and easy solutions to creating an even draw.

really NZ?? I would of thought Tassie, Canberra, and maybe a nth queensland team would be 1st before them. Just to make sure you have complete coverage of OUR country 1st.. But with tv dollars i can see the sense.
