Time for a new coach

LOL....are you taking the piss here? Those 3 would not get a game at Geelong ever. As much a i love Pratty, he would do not displace any of the backmen at the Cattery.

Pratt would definitely get a game over Hunt.

Bloody oath he would Zebs. Bloody hell......there'd have to be a handful of Cats' players who'd be shrinking violets, without the unit surrounding them. Pratt, in a Cats' jumper, could easily fill the Milburn role, if he had Scarlett, Harley, and the CHB who's bloody name I've forgotten right now, around him. He'd be a sensation and an AA defender off a HBF.

Egan?

Doesn't matter who you have in these spots, the Cats are playing as a TEAM that bust their arses for each other... that's how the stevo's, the pike's, et el, played. No reason why we can't see North doing likewise. Was that semi-final win last season a fluke?? the way the team is letting the MEDIA believe it with such 'half-arsed' efforts.. that's why we have adjustment problems.

On Pratt, seems to be frustrated with the BS midfield 'lack of arse busting' pressure.. no wonder he's losing his mind. We better bust the eagles arses or Pratt is going to continue busting JYD's.

I think the CHB you are talking about is Egan, who has been out all year with the foot injury. There was a bit of debate on this forum a few weeks ago as to whether you would prefer Egan to Drewie. Some thought that Egan being AA last year was conclusive. Not me - give me Drewie any day. Agree with the Pratt call. Just don't rate Hunt or Milburn above him.

I will give you Hunt but Milburn is better than Pratt, without doubt and his record proves it. Better mark, smarter and better disposal IMO

LOL

i was banned for suggesting this

but i think he is a shithead.

we should get Archer to take over as temp for the rest of the season then get clarkson.

You really should put a sarcastic emoticon after a post like this so people realise you are joking.

Yep woodson, Egan's the one. I was going to add what you went on to say too.....the midfield pressure applied by the Cats. The workrate of the midfielders to get back and assist the defenders.....the consumate teamwork.

Pratty's not afforded such luxuries, unfortunately, and often finds himself swamped by waves of opposition runners who deliver with pinpoint accuracy. He has a bloody tough job, as do the rest of our defensive "sometimes unit".

It's about having the whole team play their part when we don't have the pill. It's also about ensuring we keep hold of the pill when we bloody well have it.

Imagine how frustrated Arch would be facing that on Saturday night!

So... in a 16 page thread, has anyone come up with a name for a new coach lol

Was wondering this as well :D

Maybe for a lack of better options available? And the fact we don't really have the money required for early termination of a contract? Hence why sacking coach now (or at end of year) is a crazy and downright foolish course of action to take IMHO.

But in the event that Laids doesn't cut it after serving out his contract further down the line, am thinking it would be worth sniffing around Blakey or O'Donnell...have worked in a fantastic setup under Matthews for a long time (not sure if they're still there atm?) and seem to have great reps on them.

Brisbane (and Sydney as well, but as already mentioned we don't want their game style ) are in a similar boat to us in not wishing to bottom out too badly in order to build a flag worthy team as it impacts badly on their membership bases.

Dunno bout anyone else out there worth chasing, though others here might be better informed than myself.

kitty :)

This strikes me as the kind of thread that would endear the club to Bigfooty (or vice versa) :thumbsu:

As for a new coach, what about Groucho Marx?

We already have Groucho don't we?

We don't need a new coach, we need to pick a team that suits the conditions. We pick a big team and expect them to play a running, handballing game.

The Crows went small - which was perfect on the night - and made us look bloody silly with their running game.
Yeah well one would think that the buck stops with Laidley when it concerns selection.

There's also the element that Dean might be one of life's second lieutenants - (this is what they are saying about Gordon Brown now) - very very good as a 2IC, or a chief adviser, but just plain not cut out for the main job.

I have always rated Dean an excellent defensive tactician. He took Collingwood to within a kick and a half of a premiership in this role.

That's where it stops.

Stops for whom?? It's all in the mind TTD. JYD, I agree has serious ideas. Complicated as they are, he still knows his stuff.

There is always flipside to this rationale as the cattle need to respond to the call of duty and even though WE showed the football world WE are indeed capable, it's more about what happens between the ears and how the players hunger develops from enjoying their game.

We are by no-means a write off yet. The Pies of the JYD 2IC ensemble was a dour disciplined team that busted their arse together. No different from last season's model. You just can't doubt a bunch of guys that care to play for each other. Only a straight kick away from premiership glory. (they would of still beaten the power IMHO).
