Just want to pay homage to our saviour Mr Richard Pratt.

Stop to think for a moment what the feeling around the club would be like had Smorgan still been at the reigns. I knew I was feeling pretty bad about Carlton's situation, but until the weight was lifted, I never realised just how down in the dumps I had been getting. Seriously, it was starting to get depressing and I was beginning to question whether we'd be able to pull ourselves out of the mess we were in. I'd never felt that way about the Blues before. I always had a belief that we'd recover from anything, but that belief was being shaken.

Now instead of that twisted soul Carro and her media beat-ups, we've got stories of learjet's ferrying our players back to Melbourne, Thornton referring to our President as 'Pratty', and people at the club talking about the 'lights being turned on'. How good is it!

I hope this guy realises the impact he's having on our great club and the daily lives of those who support it.

Richard Pratt, if I ever see you face to face, don't be surprised if I come up and give you a big hug.

In the words of Debbie Boone

So many nights I sit by my window
Waiting for someone to sing me his song
So many dreams I kept deep inside me
Alone in the dark but now
You've come along

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

Rollin' at sea, adrift on the water
Could it be finally I'm turning for home?
Finally, a chance to say hey,
I love You
Never again to be all alone

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

I was at the club today to pick up my clash jumper, and was told that the Carlton shop, membership/ticketing and reception were all getting a face lift. The Carlton shop has moved into the gaming area, and the HOT chick that served me said that they should be back into their shop by early April. I doubt any of this could have been done without RP coming on board.

Monkey King, stop watching chick flicks and listening to Celine Dion. Grab a beer and an Arnie movie. The damage can be reversed. ;)

You have to love that passion.

Yes RP is having an enormous impact just as everyone had hoped and spoken about for months leading up to his appointment. Do not be suprised if we make a profit of 1m + at the end of 07.

Stephen Icke should be appointed in the next couple of days and then we will likely appoint a new CEO by end of April.

All good from here.

OK ODN. Perhaps I've taken this too far. Let me put it terms some of you may understand more clearly.

You know when you're in the taxi on the way home from a big night suckin down the piss and you've gotta seriously syphon the python before your bag bursts. Then when the cab stops, you rush out and render the neighbours porch a pale shade of yellow. That sensation, that massive feeling of relief.... that's what my man 'Pratty' has done for me. He's taken a load off. :D

So to you D**k, I raise my glass :thumbsu:

What do you think BT, is that a good move by the club to get Stephen Icke? Looking in from the outside, I might have thought "Curly" Austin might have been a good choice.

Hi HBF, Curly would have also been great in the role however Icke has got a great reputation in being able to work with all aspects of the Footy Department as well as developing a great rapport with the young players. Is held in high esteem by most clubs.

Will be a great addition to the club.

Great to hear.
Don't know alot about Icke, but I suggest that has alot to do with him being based in WA. All I hope for is the club has done due dilligence and sought the best available person for the job.

*BUMP*

It's been little more than over a year since I posted this thread. I just got back from a truly amazing and inspiration function only to see the tragic news of the great man's passing and every good feeling I had sunk to the pit of my stomach.

I know there is a thead about this already, but my OP still sums up my feeling best.

Richard Pratt... you lit up my life. May you forever rest in peace

*MK bows low and kowtows three times*

EDIT: Make that 2 years.
