Bunsen Burner is right in a round about way although I don't think it is Latham so much as his advisors. Someone gave him very poor advice at the last election and despite being the most popular opposition leader in history he proved unelectable. They went backwards and they shouldn't have gone backwards. It is also arguable that Latham is still in denial about the election result. Latham is taking Labor nowhere.
Did Latham have advisors? I was under the impression most of his decisions were his own.

Yes. I agree that Latham wouldn't listen to advisors - that is half of his problem.

Let's have a look at the careers of the ALP frontbench:
Compared to a select few such as:
John Howard: suburban solicitor, habitual liar and career politician ie no idea of the real world

Tony Abbott: Trainee priest who abdicated responsibility for his bastard son, boxer and career politician.

Deanne Kelly: Chair of the CWA Scone baking committee, serial mismanager, NAt.Party stooge.

Peter Costello: Lefty that decided money was important, I still hold hopes for this one.

Joe Hockey: Food taster, Food critic, Food lover

One quality and balanced appraisal deserves another:p

You might want to add he was a failed suburban solicitor. The thing with all politicians is if you pay them 80K, like the saying goes you get monkeys. Getting rid of thier generous super scheme was stupid too.

Your stupidity is frightening.

No, I think it's time for you to excuse yourself from this forum for fear that people will want to report you to the Police for being a danger to yourself!
If you really think Latham is the next PM of this country, I think you are the delusional one. By reading your posts, I can see you are a through and through ALP supporter who will not take any criticism of the Party.

Your bias is frightening and if Latham was going to be PM he should have won it at the last election. Howard was on the nose, his lies and crawling with the US had a lot of people fed up and even the Libs were a worried they were destined to lose.

The people voted and elected Howard and allowed his party to control both houses of parliment, his treasurer's record on economics was of high standards, though in my thoughts, the ALP were the architects of the growth the Libs have enjoyed. In criticism, Howard's Prime Ministership lacks compassion for the less well of, his brown nosing to Bush sickens me and I always have stated that Howard sent us to war on the back of a FTA which I believe favours the US and deprives true fairness.

Latham blew the election from day one with his Party firing on populism rather than decent policies. His attacks of the Libs were good for the "true believers" but rather than attcking bad Liberal policy, he allowed the Libs to attack him. Medicare Gold was a farce, it was populism and people see through that. It's all well and good to have such policies, but the country can not sustain it, especially with health.

As a swinging voter, I have ripped into the Libs about various issues and bemoan the fact that the ALP are so insignificant in Parliment, that I wish we had a real alternative govt to tackle the Libs.

So, before you sprout such hollow rubbish to me try having the decency to explain to me why Latham will be the next PM of this country and what will achieve this. If Latham remains in the Job, the best the ALP can hope for is 2010 and maybe, just maybe defeat PM Costello.
