Hopefully our recruiters our looking out for Podsiadly mk II...They found Duigan so there is hope.. Chad Jones is one to look at, strong mark and kicks bags constantly in the WAFL, only problem is he is hopeless below his knees

What a load of rubbish...

We were 3 points away from winning last night and were missing Kreuz, Gibbs and a fit Waite...

The Cats are VERY happy they are playing West Coke as our pace worries them..

All this rubbish about delisting and trading, not needed...

Gun CHF don't become available unless you give up a top 8 listed player!

All I would like to see is an inside mid with real size i.e. Josh Kennedy...

As a side note, Austin was almost best on for the Ants yesterday, he took some huge pack marks and ran his butt off. At his young age i would definitely hang onto him and let him do his 1st full preseason in 3 years...
Ive said it B4 but I think this bloke has as much to offer as any of our young kpp.

Have to Hang onto him. Maybe he can take over from lachie over the pre-season.

Still love lachie forward. But I still Love lachie Back

Still on the McLean bandwagon for the inside mid position. Think we haven't managed him correctly. Pre-Season is a biggie for him...

Never going to happen but if we managed to somehow get Goddard (obviously this would cost us a packet) and picked up fevola (as he would cost next to zero) our forward line would no longer be a weakness...

Walker Fevola betts
Garlett Goddard Gibbs - (resting midfielder)

Waite would also be able to play back.

Surly this team would bring us into the top tier of teams in the competition and help us win number 17.

i would definately be targetting koby stevens from wce. maybe trade power to freo for 2nd round pick or their palmer compo. then trade that to wce for koby. good promising inside mid who cant get game time at wce

If we want to secure a "blue chip" forward as Ratten has come out and said, then we are going to have to give something of significance.

Players that we should look at trading for the right deal.

Bower
Russell
Hampson
McLean
Davies
Armfield
Lucas

All of the above have currency, some more than others...Lucas would be the only one that I would be annoyed at loosing...but if he secured us a top line forward it would be worth it
Thank Christ you have nothing to do with the club.

Agree with Faz that we have some developing KPs (and as others pointed out - he forgot Austin too) and don't have to find much BUT if there was an irresistable youngish KP out there and we needed an attractive trade then I would consider Gibbsy. I know I am asking to be shot down and I do love his class but we rarely get 4Q's out of him, we rarely see him in our midfield mix and you only get monkeys if you pay peanuts.

Wash your mouth out with soap. Gibbs will be one of the keys in us winning premiership #17 (& 18).

anyone think mitchell or casboult could be the key up forward ? another pre season could make all the diffrence
Let's hope so.

But both guys have played zero games at AFL level so they will need at least a year or two and even then will they be good enough?

We would all love to see Casboult & Mitchell dominating up forward and Watson, McCarthy and Hendo dominating down back but we need some insurance just in case.

I'm all for looking to make changes in order to improve the list, but there is absolutely no need to make any knee-jerk reactions.

Emotions will still be running high from last night but the addition of Waite, Gibbs and Kreuzer will have ensured a different result IMO.

Of course we will be looking to improve however that does not always mean mass changes must be made. There is no point trading merely for the sake of it.

If there are good players available for the taking then I would obviously encourage the club to go for it but that should not be at the detriment to what we currently have. We have an outstanding core group from which we can and will progress and to take that apart would be silly and disappointing.

There is no doubt that improvement is needed. However sometimes that improvement has to come from within, from what we already possess, rather than from something we do not.

Can't think of any period when we shouldn't be looking to improve our playing stocks. The moment you think you have it right you get passed by another club.

You think scouts and recruitment people only work off season? Where do you think Splendini is right now? Probably at some Under 12 after season sausage sizzle interviewing wary parents, that's where. It never stops.

The list will always need changes and improving

Reality is we are crying out for a decent tall at CHF. Defence and midfield appears settled now. Walker, Betts and Garlett are great up forward, and would really benefit from a tall marking player to assist them

Henderson looks like he's settling up back, which is a good outcome.

Time to move McLean and Setanta on. Any team seriously in contention of winning a flag would not have room for these types of players on their lists.

Trade them for picks/ready made types who can help bolster the teams depth

From what's been said here and there, Bower and Army are most likely to be traded with Aussie and Hoops off the senior list.

One normal draft pick with our Buckley pick. I'd look to trade our way into the top 10 draft picks.

Give Ed another year on the rookie list.

Our list is developing nicely. Both Robinson and Curnow can play inside mid well enough.

Our young talls are developing. We don't need to overreact.

We need KPP cover as Bower, Jamison, Setanta, and Waite haven't for whatever reason been able to consistantly stay on the park.

We should try and pick something up cheap.

Gibbs will be eventually be every bit as good as Dal Santo is right now. Five...we just need to be patient.:thumbsu:

We are short a proper KPF but we must not give up another premium piece.

Don't see the need to make major changes. There are no good key position forwards available that we could get without giving up a Gibbs type player. We just need to draft another tall or two. That's what Collingwood did. Their good drafting and good developing of their talls won them a flag.
We did draft well, but we still traded for Jolly and Ball (kinda) to imrpove the areas we needed to improve to win a flag. Same as Geelong did with Ottens.

If you guys are going to go after a decent forward or inside mid, you have to offer up quality. Players like Bower, McLean, Davies, Armfield are not worth anything. Hampson might get you something, but you need to offer up quality to get quality. What about someone like Walker or Betts? Both have had good seasons with good currency.

You might not like the idea or trading handy players, but you wont attract anything by offering Davies and a 3rd round pick.
