Assuming Mooney accepts his one match suspension, perhaps Geelong will bring in Lonergan to play up forward. Cast your mind back to the prelim final last year and you'll remember our backline probably played one of their best games together. Leading the group was Brian Lake who completely dominated his opponent for the day (Lonergan) and launched plenty of attacking moves.
This week is the opportunity for Lake to impose himself on the game like never before. Morris will have his hands full with Johnson and Williams will be required to lock down Hawkins. The temptation might be to push Lake up forward but I'd prefer him to stay down back where he is most comfortable and use him to generate attacking plays.
He has been well short of his best so far this year and was downright appalling on the weekend. Time for Brian to remind everyone why some consider him in the top echelon of full backs. Time to step up Brian.
