Assuming Mooney accepts his one match suspension, perhaps Geelong will bring in Lonergan to play up forward. Cast your mind back to the prelim final last year and you'll remember our backline probably played one of their best games together. Leading the group was Brian Lake who completely dominated his opponent for the day (Lonergan) and launched plenty of attacking moves.

This week is the opportunity for Lake to impose himself on the game like never before. Morris will have his hands full with Johnson and Williams will be required to lock down Hawkins. The temptation might be to push Lake up forward but I'd prefer him to stay down back where he is most comfortable and use him to generate attacking plays.

He has been well short of his best so far this year and was downright appalling on the weekend. Time for Brian to remind everyone why some consider him in the top echelon of full backs. Time to step up Brian.

Brian will have a great game. He was a bit off last week and one thing he is consistent with is that he is inconsistent. He rarely plays 2 bad games in a row though.

He always gets plenty of the ball, but his 'offensive moves' consist of moving up the ground at walking pace, bouncing the ball evey 5m, looking for a risk free pass. The opposition love this - hanging off him to cover all his options, getting all their numbers up the ground. By the time he actualy gets rid of it, the our midfield and forward line is completely covered.

How about the Lakey actualy uses those legs of his and sprints up the @#$@# middle of the ground, and actualy use the ball by hand or foot before the oppositon clogs us up?

Same goes for Morris who is also one of the faster guys at the club.

Peronally I think our current woes stem in significantly from the lack of quick ball movement out of the backline. If gilbee isnt getting the ball 25 times and using it well, we are stuffed and everybody points a finger at him, but seriously, how about some of the other defenders helping him out by making some attacking moves of their own and taking some of the pressure off him as the only go to man. keep the opposition guesing.

May explain Harbrow's move to the backline.

Lets be fair, the matchup with Bate was stupid as he is not a power forward, Bate is a medium forward with a lot of pace. If hargrave was available he would have played on him...

Does rocket have the balls to play Brian full forward from the start of the game. I reckon he was BOG at full back in the prelim against the cats but this is the perfect game to play in full forward. We are just not going to win with the same forward structure minus Murphy against the cats so I believe we have nothing to loose. JUST DO IT

In a game where we have 3 defenders out injured, you want to take the BOG defender and move him to somewhere he's been ineffective when tried. I'm glad you're not our coach.

Hey Lard Head this was posted before I knew Everitt and Hargraves were not playing. If they have not brought in tiller I guess we will not try it.

So you really think we can kick enough goals to beat the cats with current forward structure. I go every week like most of us and I amazed when we need to go long this season we go to Josh Hill in the air more than any other player. I do not need to point out that he is not big enough strong to this job . Minson is not the answer seems to get lost and provides few contests and Eade has said Grant is a least a season away.

So in game where we are up against why not try something different it may just work if it does not we can always put in Brian back to full back.
