Thats my thoughts.

Hammer as a permanent FF, Kruezer to rotate between 3rd tall up forward, midfield rotations and the ruck.

Warnock is the best ruckman of the three, but not so good around the ground.

This is close but there is no need to position Hammer as a permanent FF. All can and should be rotated through the ruck to keep the opposition guessing and disrupted. A defender getting the better of Hampson at FF might not have such fortune against K or W and so on.

Those who think that the side cannot cope with 3 ruckman fail to recognise 2 facts. First, both Kreuzer and Hampson are athletic with tanks. They can kick, handball and, more particularly Kreuzer, are competent below their knees. Secondly, it was not so long ago that St Kilda made it to a GF with 2, by then, dinosaur ruckmen in King and Gardiner. Neither could ruck for more than about 50% of a game each and largely interchanged with each other so that one was on the bench most of the time. W K and H can and would spend much more time on the ground but we could, if required, afford to have one on the bench and 2 on the ground.

Dunno. It would be at the expense of a runner and would Ratts forgo some speed for height?

If everyone was fit I would have thought Lucas would go and we would be looking at Army or Robo as the sub based on the following team:

Tuohy Jamo Duigan
Laidler Hendo Yazz
Scotty Ed Simo
Gibbs Waite Jeff
Walks Hammer Betts

206 Judd Murph

Krueze Carrots Robo Army

I think it would be best achieved by playing Kreuzer in the midfield, Warnock to be first ruck, Hammer at FF and 2nd ruck.

Move Matty to the middle!

I suggested this in the GWS Preview thread.

Imagine the impact Kreuz would have if he doesn't have to think about the ruckwork. It would do wonders for his confidence in regards to his "around the ground work" when he does resume rucking duties!!

How would it be for Yaz to be kicking out from full back and looking up to see Kruze and Knockers as marking options at 60-70m out? Would put a lot of pressure on opposition defenders to stifle a multitude of big marking options. Hopefully would then have the pace of Hammer, Waite (as well as Eddie and Garlett) to stream towards goal.

Am I the only one that thinks having the big guys up forward isnt as good as it sounds. They arent super forwards by a long way.

I think it would require Waite to play more up the ground, otherwise our forward line would get really crowded and make it harder for our small forwards. Eddie and Garlett work best with room to move

We all want them in the side because theyre all worthy of a spot, however I fear it wont work. IMO Hampson isnt a forward or back solution, hes a ruckman that can pinch hit forward. Kruezer could become anything as a forward but the club seems set on having him ruck

Warnock is far and away our best choice of ruckman for me its still a matter of finding room for Hampson if its there.

But tbh, I would like to see the club lead the way with a constant rotating ruck set up. Big guys can wear out quickly in this game and an injury is always around the corner. If we are keeping these guys constantly playing with decent rests in between we could have the pick of the bunch come finals depending on our opponents, and if one falls off for whatever reasons a replacement is always right there. It also keeps everyone in the game and their mind on Carlton, rather than possibilities elsewhere

47 hitouts against a team that decimated us is pretty compelling.

We have six blokes in the squad 198cm or taller. At some time we're going to have to play 3 talls together. That's 3 ruckmen who can pinch-hit forward plus 3 forwards who can (hopefully) pinch-hit in the ruck.

Hence my call to develop one as a defender for balance. Perhaps starting this week with Kreuzer playing on Setanta, if he plays? Irish will play both as a forward and a relieving ruck, I'd suggest.

Maybe but who do you rest? Thornton, yet again?

I think it's time to play one, the better sides have settled on one as it just hurts the rotations and fwd defensive pressure to much having two.

Pies play one
Cats generally play one weekend was exception pretty sure they will revert to one
Crows one, with Tippett playing and delivering at full fwd
Swans one
Bombers play bell and Ryder who is a very good fwd
Eagles play two one being the best ruck man of the past decade and the other being the most exciting prospect I have seen

Tough call but time to play one and if all fit it's 206 based on form over past 12 months, his form last year was far better than anything hammer or kruz have delivered this year.

For this to have any chance of success, Krooz would need to be used as a permanent marking forward with Waite / Hammer as the second tall. Would love to see Krooz nail down a key forward role and bag 3-4 a week but from all accounts he and the MC ain't keen on the idea.
