Mystery Time travellers

I havent read the whole thread, but regarding the "time-traveller" in the charlie chaplin movie, a popular theory is that what she is holding is a 19th century hearing aid.
http://www.livescience.com/8868-time-traveler-hard-hearing.html

I think we can travel forward in time (by moving at or faster than the speed of light) but we are unable to travel back in time. Steven Hawking is a big time travel fan, but he has said many time that travel to the past is not possible

Time Travel seems completely improbable and not possible from our current perspective.

But 100 years ago, travelling to the moon must have had a similiar allure of impossibility.

Just saying that we tend to frame things - and quite reasonably too - by the outer limits of our current knowledge and thinking.

If our continual evolution proves one thing is that as a species we are constantly taking quantum leaps.

Reminds me of what Mrs Bryant was fond of saying in her year 9 science class: "science is only a set of theories and thinking waiting to be dis-proven so we can take the next step".

Not saying time travel is possible, I have no idea, but I wouldn't be writing it off or making conclusive statements about it based on our current knowledge.

We're barely out of the womb, it would seem, when it comes to what's out there, what's possible. And if we don't annihilate ourselves, who knows what the future will bring re discoveries and knowledge.

Our distant descendants might look back on our dismissal and thinking of the impossibility of time travel much the same way we regard the flat earth theory.

Just re my last post, some guy posted this site on GD a year or so back.

Take a walk through the future and how we might evolve.

It's well worth a look.

Here, an adult Axl Rose of Guns 'n' Roses photographed knowingly watching JFK moments before his assassination. Rose was born a year before this incident, making him approximately 1 years old. Could JFK's murder be linked to the success of this time travelling singers contemporary Hard Rock outfit in the late 80s - early 90s? I'll let you be the judge.

That kid to the right of Axle CLEARLY is not impressed with the music.

John titor

He was either the greatest hoaxer or he actually was a time traveller

He claims he was a genuine time traveller and sent the internet in a buzz because he couldnt be debunked though people did try...

He claims time travel works only going back to the past but you cant go to the future...

He also says you go back in time but never in the same line you lived in (alternate time line) explaining this in laymens

Think sliding doors ..... say your thinking about eating and apple ...you have 2 choices eat the apple or not

Say you eat the apple this decision causes you to have a line in time. But what if you didnt eat the apple (for whatever reason) this causes to have another line in time ....now say if your decision was to eat the apple titor claims you could travel back to a timeline where you decided not to eat the apple....but not in the same time line where you decided to eat the apple...he claims this avoids paradoxes...

He also says these multi verses can be very simular to the life you lived or totally and utterly different (think butterfly effect)

Its confusing I know but its hard to explain lol

After carefully reviewing his posts on the machine and how it works:
Pure bullshit.

According to him the machine only travels through time and not space.

Not only is this feat utterly impossible even if it was you could not travel from any date in 2036 and end up in the exact same place without moving in 1975

Universal drift, expansion, fluctuations in earth orbit in relation to the sun, you would arrive at the same point but the earth itself might not be there "locking" to earth means it MUST travel through space theirs no way around it and if it can travel through space there's no reason to end your journey at the same relative location.

Further more as from his vague information, he's basically traveling within a singularity there would be no way taking "samples" of the outside world because your bending space time to create the worm hole once it starts it's a closed system.

If it was an open system this becomes a problem, particularly when he states the device is able to turn around mid flight and return to 2036 if anomalies are detected.

Obviously if it can go back then the wormhole goes both ways, given that the device is capable of taking anything in the area with the vehicle theirs a risk that things from the past can enter the wormhole.

And of course there's the obvious fact that traveling through a wormhole is still traveling through space.

I'm led to believe Axl has traveled back here so as to give himself enough time to complete the Chinese Democracy album.

Was me;)

The possibilities are limitless... Imagine trying to explain today's technology to someone from the 1800's. Who knows where we will be in another 200.

I'd like to go back in time and put some money on the Cubbies!

I'd go back in time to when they first invented the Burger Ring as we know it. To be the first person to eat one of them tasty morsels, well, it's akin to being the first man to walk on the moon.

If I could go back? I'd go back and drink the wine Jesus turned from water. Fair dinkum, that'd be some seriously bloody good wine.

Ever had Kosher wine? Terrible stuff.

Pesach is the worst with all the toasts.

I have, but this is wine converted from water by the Son of God. If that isn't well breathed and perfectly aged, then I'll be a Roman.

Regardless of who his dad was, good Jewish boys know nothing about wine.

There'd be time travel I'd do, as an observer, that would not be much of a request. Of course we all would say "send me back to see Jesus life" etc, but I'd love to have been at Phar Lap's MC, in 1930.

One: To see the great horse win.
Two: To see my Grandfather have 2000 pounds on him, the equivalent of about 500k today, if not more.

I'd go back in time just to sleep with your grandma.
