It happens all the time. But only she can answer that.

End the night well, exchange texts, she says she's keen for a 2nd date, then she vanishes.

To you it might have seemed to have gone well, but it's confirmation bias playing its role and getting you to perceive subtle cues during the date that made it seem like she was interested, when it reality she was probably just being polite.
