Id put it this way, if youre going to have a non candid photo of yourself for a dating profile is it weirder to do a selfie or to get someone to come over and take this photo for you...

Im a woman and I hate

blurry shots
shots with people holding alcohol
group shots where you aren’t sure who is who
shots with no shirt on, it’s a bit try hard


I like

just normal , clear , natural shots of you on your own , close up is fine or with a pet is fine . I also like full length shots to see height and weight.

I don’t over complicate things, as long as you have a photo of yourself and I personally think you’re attractive to me then I’ll swipe. It’s fine if your with mates or at the gym, I just use it as a talking point like “I saw your gym pic, is that (insert gym name) gym”

Hahaha no photos of holding fish though

My favourite footy pics are of guys playing footy😍

I keep it simple too, I have a few selfies a couple photos at me at the beach.

As someone who has been on the online game for the last 7 odd years (now 29 and recently got a Mrs so no more ) , I have a pretty good idea about the ins and outs of each of the apps. Ball park reckon I would have met up with 100-150 girls over these years with mixed results.

Tinder is dead these days at least compared to how it was when I first started going on it. A lot of bots, most of the hot girls are there for validation and insta followers rather than to actually meet guys.
In the past it had the monopoly of dating apps so everyone was on there rather than having a few to choose from. However Tinder is also a young man's game so if you're over 25/26 better to go on one of the others imo

Bumble I'm actually not a huge fan of but I did meet my now Mrs on there so it's served a purpose.
Initially I didn't like it as I wouldn't get nearly as many matches as I would on Tinder and half of them wouldnt talk which means you lose the match within 24 hours. Also so much for "letting the woman start the conversation". Usually it's something novel and mundane like "Hi" which really defeats had purpose

Hinge surprised me. Was hesitant signing up as it felt more like one of those oldy sites like eHarmony rather than say a younger vibe aka Tinder/Bumble but it allows you to input more info into your profile in a structured manner. You can even put your last name up which allows the chick to have a good stalk and gain a somewhat sense of security . Had some great dates off there in the couple of years I was on it

Don't really buy in to the notion that there's a certain type of person on each app. Most people are on more than one

I personally wasn't a big fan of selfies on guys' profiles, but it might have been that most of them were either mildly creepy, strangely blurry or just weird. I don't take selfies, so I didn't really want a selfie kind of guy.

I also didn't like anything too posed. Again because it's not my style. I liked that my now partner used photos that were clearly taken at events or outings, but he still put time into answering the Hinge prompts. A good balance between caring about his responses and not being a poser, I guess.
 
I am the classical boomer meme taking selfies, so today I went high tech and took some more pics with the camera on a tripod and self-timer. Got a couple of good pics which have already been used to swoon glams. :thumbsu:

Credit where its due, I used phantom13 's angle ideas on the headshot and it came out well.
