Oldest pics I've seen are 7-8 years old.

I don't think I've changed that much since 2014 but I wouldn't be making a profile that is supposed to be me without at least a couple of photos from the last year.

I know a girl whose Instagram profile pic is from 2011. OK love you looked good in a bikini that day but probably time to update.

Watched a doco called The Tinder Swindler on the weekend, about
a conman meeting woman ang getting money out of them. He got close to $300,000 out of one in Norway, another 30k from a woman in Sweden.
These women were actually taking out loans to give this bloke cash

Just shows how desperate people can get when they meet someone who (supposedly) has a fair bit of money.

One advantage fb has is that you can quickly look at their profile (if it isn't locked down) and you can generally tell how old their profile pic is by the date it was first used. There's a couple on the groups I'm looking at that are much bigger in temporary pics from Christmas than they are in the "current" profile pics which are clearly from 3-5 years ago.

What's the name of the FB groups?

Just search "singles" "melbourne" "victoria" and click on Groups on the left.

Basically join all those that look interesting then leave the ones that don't suit, eg there's a couple of Melbourne ones for over 40s / 50s but after a couple of days it becomes obvious one is pretty much all SE suburbs / Mornington and the other includes a lot more of the western suburbs people.

A tinder warning from the government. The warning has been echoed by the chair of parliament's Intelligence Committee, Senator James Patterson, who advised Australians:

"If you're a six and they're a 10, it might not be your looks that they've been charmed by. It might be your access to classified information," Senator Patterson said.

Senator Patterson is himself a 6.

Depends on which is the 6 and which the 10. Just about any dating app males greatly outnumber females (same sex one's excluded obviously). This drives that a female 6 will get attention from guys 8+, but a guy that's a 6 is going to be going down to 3 or 4 to get many hits on most platforms. Any guy that's a 6 (and not obviously wealthy) getting an 8+ hitting on him and wanting details that could be used for ID theft deserves what they get.

If its trivial then why wouldnt they overlook it?

The reason they lie is the same as the reason most wont overlook it (im not advocating for said person lying by the way just pointing out the fallacy in the argument)
Not that I'm dating (married), but I wouldn't be overlooking these if it was for anything beyond a one night stand. Not because of a meaningless height or (within reason!) weight difference, but because they've led from the start that they are willing to lie to you. Not the sort of person you should be starting any serious relationship with.

Fair call.
