Probably for the same reason as most people. Swipe right on everyone and then evaluate the people who you then get matched with!

I would start convos and block if I never got a response. I think at most I had about 10 convos going on every few weeks/months so only 15-20 matches at most. Maybe I'm a weird breed.

I know one dude who has over 100 matches and another who I wouldn't think is any better or worse looking that has a handful at best.

I had like 120+ before I reset my account. The app is actually really poorly designed and uses an extremely flawed algorithm to match people. After reseting it I'm having a much better experience even if I only have around 10~ matches now

Yeah same for me.
One guy from my cricket club is addicted to it, no offense to the bloke but he isn't exactly an Adonis, but he manages to get plenty of lays through tinder.

Question: Is Tinder really the paneca it is made out to be? Or does is it simply a digital reflection of real life norms like traditional online dating? I get the concept in that a swipe right/left however brutal seems harsh but is no different to meeting anyone on the street/pub/restaurant but is Tinder really revolutionising things or just an updated technology?

I wouldn't have thought it's a panacea. If you're ugly and/or shit at small talk it won't help you.

The big difference between an anonymous app and seeing someone in the pub is that if a guy sees a girl and thinks 'oh yeah, she's alright' and the girl thinks 'oh yeah, he's alright' then x times out of 10 neither will approach the other and nothing will come of it.

If the guy and the girl swipe yes to each other on Tinder they are 'matched' and can talk, and if one isn't interested then it stays anonymous.
