You can consider it payback for you not being fair to us last year on the Armstrong trade.
Adelaide decided to play hardball then, on a fringe player never the less, this is just karma coming full circle.

In a market with only 1 buyer, he is only worth what the market is willing to pay.

EDIT: or even consider it karma for the Jacobs trade, Adelaide aren't some club that are above playing hardball to get a great deal for their club, shouldnt be a surprise when the shoe is on the other foot.
Gunston, Maric? Selective memory you have

Sydney are right to offer what they can/are willing to.

Adelaide are right to ask for whatever they want in return.

Eventually they'll either come to some sort of agreement or Tippett will go into the draft.

It sucks for Adelaide but Sydney are right not to upset the balance of their team too much to get Tippett. They just won the flag without him, so they don't need him as such. Trading out a Jetta or Haneberry or whoever is a dangerous gamble. You don't want to rob Peter to pay Paul for want of a less lame expression. Again, sucks for Adelaide big time.
I think this is a large part where Adelaide fans are getting annoyed.

I read a lot of people saying it's not really Sydney's fault, Tippett has put the 2 clubs in an awkward position etc. Well actually, it's entirely Sydney's fault. Tippett was all but gone to GC or Brisbane. If you don't want to break up your premiership team and don't want to lose any young players and aren't willing to compromise on the aforementioned, then keep your grubby, cash-laden mits away from the situation, especially as most Sydney supporters are claiming that he's not really needed.

You don't offer a player as much as Sydney are offering Tippett without thinking he's going to be a significant asset to the team and someone worth trading something of value for.

It's just not Sydney or PSD for Tippett. Adelaide will do what they can to get him to Sydney but won't accept anything less than what he's worth. If the Sydney deal falls through, I'm pretty sure Brisbane or GC will have offers that Adelaide and Tippett's management will have to accept rather than risking his chances in the PSD. To the Sydney supporters hoping to get him for massive unders, it's not going to happen.

If I was Sydney, I'd be selling the farm to get Tippett. An ageing list (second oldest, I think) that's in it's prime right now, could easily win another flag next year with Tippett and maybe another one after that before their senior stars retire and GWS and GC start raping.

Exactly. It's just sheer arrogance offering what Sydney are and expecting to get him without taking any hit whatsoever to your current playing list.

Why should Sydney stay away from Tippett? To appease Adelaide fans?

If Sydney can get a player as good as Tippett below market value then it is in their best interests to do so.

If you're looking to apportion blame then it's Tippett's fault, not Sydney's. Tippett is the one that has decided instead of going home he wants to go to the club with the most money and worst draft picks. If he was still open to going to Brisbane/GC then Sydney would have to make the call on whether to match what they can offer and if so how to go about it.

Sydney won't trade 'something of value' unless they have to.

The whole affair is a big jar of vaseline for the Crows, but if the situation was reversed does anyone really think Adelaide wouldn't use a strong bargaining position to their advantage?

"There is a difference between knowledge and information"...That's the best you could come up with? Not try to argue the original point with a pertinent argument, thus proving me wrong, but continue with more irrelevant rubbish. That doesn't even make sense in the context you used it.

Shouldn't you be in bed by now?..no doubt you have school tomorrow.
I could've just googled "argument" or whatever you typed but when I studied we actually read books. Your initial point was weak and dealt with in another post, hence I have no need to repeat myself for the benefit of a blubbering Hawks supporter still bitter about the grand final.

Look mate why not troll off hey? Your anti crows input does nothing to improve this thread. Its not a threat. I think they're quite serious. And if they do, they'd have their legitimate reasons. Given that Port Adelaide are the only club in the history of the afl to actually take this action you are lolling at, gaining nothing for Nick Stevens, isn't that a touch amusing in its own right?
The difference of course being that Stevens didn't get to his club of choice.

Except for the fact you don't know what Sydney are offering. Which makes everything you've written pure, unadulterated speculation.

If we can't secure a gun player (no interest in drafts, we're in the window) then the Crows have my vote to put Kurt in the PSD. Normally I would be annoyed that the club received nothing but after seeing how Kurt has conducted himself I think it's only fair. He lied to the coach days before quitting, then lied to the club and fans saying his move was related to homesickness.

He would probably still be picked up by Sydney but I think it sends a good message to players that act in the same manner that he has. At least Nick Stevens was genuinely trying to move back home to Melbourne. Kurt is just marketing himself as a free agent!

At this point i'm just disappointed we can't donate 2-300k to melbourne so they can grab him in the PSD
Pissing in Sydney/Tippett's eye looks like the only thing we can hope to achieve

There is no guarantee Tippett will end up at Sydney if he goes into the ND/PSD.

Who will blink first?
The money and contract length is probably so absurd for a guy who plays as a decoy forward/ruck pinch hitter that nobody else will be prepared to pay it.

Letting him walk works if there are other clubs who will snap him up, not so sure there will be. Stevens was a long time ago. Adelaide will trade him.

One upside to the PSD if he ends up at Sydney is the potential instability as all of their precious 'battlers' learn just how much more the club values Tippett than the rest of them

Agree that Adelaide should not accept anything less than what he is worth . But what he is worth is only what someone will pay. By offering tippett a substantial contract Sydney have priced everyone else out of the market.

There would appear to be no other bidders in the auction. So then Tippett them becomes worth what sydney will pay.

Brisbane and GC have both said they have moved on. Who else is in play.

Yeah it really hurt our club spirit when Barry Hall and Daniel Bradshaw came in on big coin.

Wouldn't your scenario to disrupt the swans, work better if we actually gave up one of our "precious battlers" for Tippett. Him going to the PSD counters that.

Arrogance? What do you think this is - a church fete?

Tippett wanted to leave the Crows - whose management failed to tie him down long term. the Swans valued Sam Reid and tied him up for at leat 5 years. You don't deserve to be compensated for your own mismanagement.

The Crows have also said they are happy he is gone - presumably because Tippett might be a destabilising influence.

I find it laughable now that the Crows are taking the moral high ground - "let's show players how they should behave".

The Swans are trying, like every other club right now, to bolster their list. If we happen to be in a stronger bargaining position now, it's because of your incompetence - not our arrogance.

No, it's because the Swans have overreached, and the hypocritical double standards of the AFL have allowed them to get away with it. With the league standard salary cap the Swans clearly and unequivocally deserve, they would not have been able to get this far.

You guys act like we're desperate for him, we're not. SURELY you can think rationally for a minute and see this. We have excellent players yet to come into our 22. Tippett is a nice to have but not worth us giving one of our best 22, rohan, mitchell for.

You're in denial about your position in this situation and relying on us being overly charitable when no other club, in their right mind, would do that if they were in our position.

Anyway, lets see how it unfolds and i sincerely wish the crows good luck next year.

I know what they've offered was insufficient to the point that David Noble would indicate the Crows were going to look elsewhere or send him to the PSD before accepting it. Put it this way, he didn't sound particularly positive about the way negotiations were travelling with Sydney, it's quite easy to piece together why that would be the case.
