No need to, we are looking for pick 12 or 13 to get the deal done.

DST

Are we though? Theres no proof we are looking at anythinh either way really. I agree pick 12 or 13 you would think would do it, but thats only if the crows will be happy to turn us away and wear a zero, then presuming GWS would waste a pick on tippett in the national draft. If it were psd he would go for sure, but who knows in the ND.

Hope its just done with tomorrow its annoying

With 5 first round picks, I think GWS is the club with the least chance of having a pick used for Tippett called a "waste" - plus if he still wants to leave a year later, he's contracted, and GWS can lever another first round pick out of someone for the year after.

Unless the paperwork was already done (and since nobody said anything tonight, I doubt it), this announcement from GWS is specifically aimed at the protracted Tippett negotiations, if only to get things moving. Seems some other clubs are tired of Sydney clogging up all their trade attempts. So I doubt anything will be finished tomorrow.

Not to mention Adelaide is in no position to demand for more really. Who's going to trump an offer of pick 13, definitely not Sydney with pick 22 and actually want/afford Tippett. Similar situation with Clark and Brisbane last year, Fremantle were only offering pick 16 but Brisbane wanted more. When Melbourne popped in with pick 12, Brisbane took it, as they knew they weren't going to get better anywhere else.
And more $ for Clark.

Tippett would have to agree to be traded to GWS.

They have two young quality KPF's already
They have just resigned their ruckman
They were never interested in Cloke
The only other two suitors in GC and Brisbane are out
They could just use pick 13 in the ND rather than trade pick 2 as the Swans are the only other suitor

Collectively the evidence suggests that GWS are not interested, but if they were pick 13 would only need to be used fom their end.

Wrong. Next to Cloke, Tippett fits the bill perfectly for Sheeds and the Giants.

The club had previously said it would focus on developing its young key forwards Jeremy Cameron and Jonathon Patton, but Sheedy said some big names were needed to bring crowds to Skoda Stadium.
"We've got to go and find four or five players to help these young players," he said.
"We've got enough 18-year-olds at the moment.
"Whether it's Cloke or another person or three, that's the sorts of players you look at in the end because they're drawcards.
"I don't worry about form. He's a very strong, powerful, contested key forward and they're the sort of people who are drawcards and if we want to build up our attendance, we have to bring in drawcards."
Sheedy wasn't sure what the club would need to give up to get their hands on Cloke, but felt the Giants had enough options.
"Don't know," he said. "[But] we've got 17-year-old draft picks and that's pretty handy."

Big point to consider with letting Tipp slide to the draft: Do GWS consider Tippett better over the next four years combined than one of either Cameron or Patton?
Not sure they have to make that choice. They won't be giving up either Patton or Cameron to acquire Tippett. They'll either give up one of their draft picks, or will just take him for nothing in the draft (which they might have to if Tippett doesn't agree to be traded to GWS).

Promising as they both look, they are physically 3-4 years away from being able to hold a forward line between them. Tippett would add support, attract the best defender, and also provide relief in the ruck.

Depending on how they've structured their salary cap, Tippett would make a lot of sense for GWS, apart from the fact his selection of Sydney as his preferred club suggests he doesn't want to be playing with a cellar-dwellar for the next couple of seasons.

If GWS can engineer this (and particularly if they can persuade Tippett he wants to play with them), good luck to them. They are certainly in a far better position to satisfy the Crows trade wise, and it will be less tedious for the rest of us the sooner they can become a semi-competitive side. Most Swans fans acknowledge that Tippett will improve our list but I suspect most will be nonplussed if we don't land him.

I think the ideal situation is Tippet going in the draft with a huge price tag, and GWS taking him. That way we (and everyone else I suppose) can steal their good young players later on, and we don't have to overpay a forward who has shown no ability to be consistent. Also, we weaken a top 4 opposition team by having them lose their highest paid player for literally nothing, at no cost to ourselves at all. And we get to keep our first round draft pick!

Please 'punish' the big bad Sydney team by sending Tippett to the draft and receiving no compensation for him. That'll show us! Oh, and it will show Tippett as well. You know he will be cursing as he is paid a million dollars a year. Come on Adelaide, smite your enemies with your mighty feather pillow!

I can't see GWS actually getting Tippett's signature, but this shifts the PSD situation back in Adelaide's favour. They might be bluffing (personally I can't see why GWS would want to pay a guy that sort of money when they're nowhere near a Premiership, they'd be better off front-ending long-term contracts for their kids and stocking up on moderately paid solid players that set a good example for the next couple of years), but Sydney will be more nervous about letting him slip.

If the GWS interest is dinkum, then things are looking a little bit more hopeful for the Crows. Still, I wouldn't be high-fiving yet... long way to go...
Oh well, you guys might get what you think he's worth. Personally I don't care either way. Still, the point is doesn't Tippett have to agree to the trade? I'm never 100% sure how these things work? Given the amount of bad mouthing Adelaide have been throwing around do you think Tippett feels he owes Adelaide anything?

Yes, he has to agree to the trade or take his chances in the ND or PSD where he has no say (other than putting a contractual price on his head). It's fair to say that - as of this moment - the Crows and Tippett don't really like each other.

I think of all the talk surrounding this trade so far, no-one will doubt the veracity of this claim.

Tippett wanted to go home but the big cash from the "Concession Swannies" swayed him to come to the 2012 Premiers. Welcome tippo! Ma boy..
Lol, the prolonged discussions have made everyone a little crazy.

I still don't see Tippett agreeing to go to GWS, but if he does then good luck to him. Any interest from GWS won't make Sydney all of a sudden offer Rohan, Hannebery etc. Tippett will either say he only wants to go to the Swans, or GWS will take him.

Thanks for the reply, but maybe I should clarify further: Should GWS risk a few years development of one of Cameron/Patton for Tippett?

I don't see why they'd have to choose. Giles already spends time in the forward line when he isn't in the ruck, and he and Tippett would likely rotate. If anything, I think Tippett would fast track the development of Cameron and Patton, as him being in the forward line takes the attention away from them.
