I think your under-estimating the list, if North had half the injuries we did this year you would have finished bottom four.

Norths luck this year completely flattered them.
Please explain how I under estimate Essendon's list?? I predicted Essendon to finish 11th - Essendon finished 11th. If anything I was 100% spot on in my estimation.

LOL - our last 12 weeks we one 10 games - beating 2 top 4 sides. That is good football.
Im not doubting at stages you did play some good football, but it does help when you have a almost full strength side who managed to string together at least more then a couple games together as a group.

At no stage this year was Essendon ever settled. There is almost no comparison.

I just would have loved to play some teams in the second half of the season with at least a half full strength side.

Essendon was never missing a whole heap of players, there was just a continual thing where as someone came back someone else would get injured.
Fwiw I saw a list of the sides that were worst affected by injuries this season and the top 3 were the Pies, Eagles and Carlton. Obviously the Pies/Eagles have a lot better depth..
100% correct - Essendon finished mid table for injuries to best 22. Having the easiest 1st 10 weeks in the AFL lead many to think they were better than what they were.

I guess North were Polar opposites weren't they, crap start to the year and great finish to the year. My point is that even with an almost flawless run with injuries and playing Gold coast, GWS & the Bulldogs twice (3 of the bottom 4 sides) you still only managed to scrap into the finals.

As I said...flattered.

I we get rid of Carlisle we will a gap in the midfield and open up a major hold in the backline.
Howso?
Pears to play Full back and Hooker at CHB, then you can also put Hurley back there once Daniher develops. Three solid to good key defenders.

Firstly, I'm amazed you managed to decipher my post. My grammar was terrbile in that post (i have fixed it now).
Pears and Hooker...Dont get me wrong i'm hoping one of them comes good next year, but right now I have more confidence in a younger Carlisle than I do those two. When Fletch retires, that'll leave Carlise as our #1 backman IMO. Now, if we were to play Hurley down back then it wont be a big problem.
I will stop talking about just essendon now. IMO think Carlise going to Adelaide and Caddy coming to Essendon is a loss for both sides. As someone has already stated, Adelaide dont need another young kpp back. GC would be the only winner.

Disappointed to finish 8th. I predicted we would finish 7th. Only a couple of % out - still disappointing.

good to see mufassa has turned yet another thread into an Essendon list bashing exercise
You are a sensitive little Bomber.

1)Your midfield is a weakness?
2) You trade history is terrible?
3) I predicted Essendon to finish 11th?
4) Easy 1st 10 weeks?
5) Carlilse is a fair trade?

Which part is Essendon bashing?

2, 3, 4 are facts

1 and 5 my opinion that is shared by many.

Anyway we all know how quickly things can change, Adelaide and West Coast are 2 great examples.

I think either way the competition is gradually narrowing and becoming more competitive. Next year both North and Essendon wont be easy beats by any means, chuck Richmond, Carlton, St Kilda and even Brisbane into that mix and its a very very even comp.

I agree. You may have a great run with injuries but to play finals you have to jump Blues, Saints, Roos as well as keep in front of Tigers and Lions. Saying you will imporve with no injuries is just a guess.

My opinion is for you to jump those teams listed and stay above the other teams listed you should be addressing your weakness in the midfield. Caddy is a great start - but play games with the Suns this year and you won't get another shot at him.

they won 9 out of 11 at one stage, thats better than "good", your mob were talking flags after a similar run earlier in the year.

Well thats where Free Agency plays important part to a rich club like Essendon. I can admit that we aren't the best club to deal with (which I like) come trade period but if we can use some money to bring in players that fill a gap then that should be our focus...similar to the Sydney model.

heh, using the word creditability isn't real good for your credibility though!
Why do you often point out others spelling mistakes Lance? I don't think this improves your credibility either, it's petty and proves nothing. Just as in this case it takes nothing away from mufassa's point. It's just a deflection.

Being a rich club has nothing to do with free agency. You still have the same salary cap as the poor clubs.

Finishing 11th, having terrible training facilities, a weapon and a Reimers will really hurt you this year attracting quality players.

Love to know how that was measured - certainly for a fair slab there we were missing 3-4 of our better midfielders at once (Zaharakis, Howlett, Ryder, Myers & Stanton all missed games in the last 8 weeks). Left us reaching fairly deep, and asking a fair bit of the younger kids.
