Cornes & Rowe have never been able to ask the tough decisions viewers want to hear as they are too close to AFC. Makes interviews in these circumstances pointless.Yep. I would much rather have had Caro questioning Trigg than the soft 'stroking' charade of an interview conducted principally by Cornes on 5AA. Cornes' questions of Trigg were soft, accepting and lacked any real inciveness and follow up. His bias delivered a predictable response from Trigg who found himself in very friendly territory where he could make statements rather than answers to the almost 'throw away toned' questions.
Everybody now realizes we have witnessed a littany of untruths, sus performances and incompetency, and probably not all by Trigg. And so the overiding outcome was for the AFL to show who is boss and secondly to not too severley damage the AFC. And for all the machinations of 'who was complicit or knew what' it appears , simplistically, that saving the AFC is what has saved Trigg.
Good post skoobydoo, the difference is Caro is a journalist whereas Cornesy and Rowey are basically entertainers/cheerleaders. Caro is not worried about being mates with them all. I sent a long list of questions to Cornes and Rowe and disappointingly, they didn't use them. I shouldn't be surprised.
I applaud you 100% until the bolded bit, don't really know what you mean, can you expand on this. Do you mean the survival of the AFC depended on keeping Trigg, that he's become bigger than the club, that Trigg is the AFC?
No, not at all. During the tippettgate investigation I think there was probably a managed and agreed outcome between, at least the AFC people and the AFL (read Vlad), to support Vlad's desire to not skittle the Crows for too many years. Vlad's favourable ranking of Trigg meant he (ST) would also be treated more lightly than otherwise. I'm guessing Vlad's approach was then later put to the AFC Board by Chapman on the Saturday, which then decided weathering the outrage (Journalisitc licence!) of not sacking Trigg was a positive step to minimise large scale disintegration of the club. I'm not explaining this very well but I feel the over-riding desire to limit damage to the club is the very approach, as paradoxical as it sounds, that has kept Trigg in a job. Of course there are also facts kept behind the closed doors of the investigation that we will never know.
Watching the presser when the penalties were announced I really felt there was tension and enmity between Vlad (minus his usual cat got the canary look) and the others of the AFL. I reckon Vlad had used his weight to try to minimise the penalties (trying not to destroy the AFC) and yet the Commission took it upon themselves to flex their muscles, show their autonomy and ping Trigg and Tippett for more. Maybe the Commision wanted to sack Trigg but settled for a big fine etc. This goes someway to explaining why Trigg was 'angry' , in that the penalty was more than he was led to believe it would be.
I'm thinking this because Caro is on the case of how she thinks Trigg got off lightly and she is alluding to a power struggle in the AFL. Anderson has now resigned with suggestions Vlad is the reason. She wrote....
'(Anderson's resignation)...'came as a complete surprise to many of his colleagues. It comes as the AFL remains under fire for the strange leniency to the deceptive and rule-breaking Adelaide chief executive Stephen Trigg'.
She also then mentions Melbournes tanking investigation, but IMO journalists will link, without being specific, what they consider to be the connected precipitating issue in the very next sentence. And she has done this here. So I'm reading between the lines where she is hinting Vlad is at odds with others (Anderson/Fitzpatrick) over the Trigg penalties. She further suggests an arm wrestle between Vlad and the Commission (I think) re who will have the say in selecting the new person to replace Anderson. So it appears to me that deals were done by Vlad that the Commission may not have agreed with. Hmmmm ...... a long bow?
Maybe my imagination is getting the better of me and I'm reading too much into it. Anyway Trigg still has his job. The AFL power game continues and when Caro smells something she is often correct.
PS: Can you send me the name of your 'doctor', I have to fight a terrible addiction.
The only time Cornes went hard on any AFC/Port person was on Primus, when Chad and Kane were on the outer. Was hilarious.Cornes & Rowe have never been able to ask the tough decisions viewers want to hear as they are too close to AFC. Makes interviews in these circumstances pointless.
Even worse, when a listener comes on with a reasonable question, Cornes often shoot them down with huff & bluff.

So what do you all think?
She is checking whether the Board did know about the deal and Triggy is taking one for the team. i.e. 'protect the Board and the Board will protect you'.
Something is definitely fishy about keeping Triggy on IMHO.
Oh and Tippett's down, looks like another concussion.Fair bump. Play on.
I think we wait for the Pre-season draft, and the influx of Sydney posters to come and gloat, then we close?Tippetts gone thread is gone.
time to declare a winner? or are we waiting for PSD?

Doubt that will happen...Since the Fevolution, when your former football operations, John Reid oversaw our football department....One of the 'things' that was put in place was the recruiting of any big wage player must be endorsed by the board.... How's that for irony?
