Given that KT hasnt (As far as we know) nominated a club and there are 17 teams that would have him but probably 5 that will bid for him, I can see this working in our favour. without knowing any other details the fact that KT hasnt nominated a club makes his character > gunston

KURT Tippett is expected to announce as early as today which club he will play for next year with Gold Coast confident they will beat Collingwood to the star’s signature.

The Herald Sun understands a decision is imminent, even as early as this afternoon, following the Queenslander’s decision to walk out on Adelaide this morning.

They are yet to receive a final answer from Tippett's Brisbane-based management group, but the star forward does not want the saga to drag on any longer than it has to.

The Suns have been less vocal than the Brisbane Lions in their pursuit of Tippett, who is currently back home with his family on the Gold Coast as he ponders his future.

But the Coast are heavily into him and believe they are still very much in the race.

The offer on the table is substantial, but they still may be blown out of the water by Collingwood – who have found room in their cap to put a big money offer to Tippett.

If it becomes a purely financial decision, it appears Tippett will become a Magpie.

Adelaide also believe their now former forward is Collingwood bound.

Premier Sydney are also lurking and it is believed they have been in to him for a long time.

But the lure of home has always been strong for Tippett, who very nearly decided to join the Suns two years ago when the fledgling club came at him hard.

isn't tippett orignially from new south wales so technically he is going back home if indeed the word of a 5 year sydney contract is true :p ?

Rohan or Grundy come on down!

I don't want to mention your favourite bloke, but he had a lot to do with the no dickhead policy. Though, it certainly has far deeper roots.

Now, who wants to name names........

Otherwise, a very salient post.

Also, Jenny and some others - what works in Sydney does not work here.

I think it could though. You just have to listen to danger and sloane (even tex) to know that they have all bought in. I think it is entirely possible under Sanderson. It wouldn't have happened under Craig though, even I can see that now.

AFGM will be proven right...

Kurt is going nowhere other than Gold Coast...

How many papers have been sold as soon as Collingwood and Sydney got mentioned?

Kurt is going to Gold Coast and his manager is driving up his asking price..

The media have done their job selling papers. Kurts manager has also done a magnificent job.

Wondering if it's worth a punt on David Hille (2yr contract MAX) while Jenkins, SMack, et al develop further. Looking at the Free Agent list he's the only real like-for-like.

Not saying I want this, just wondering aloud.

 to Hille, Fevola, Dawes, Giles

If we recruit Hille or similar whilst leaving Smack, Jenkins to develop further in the SANFL - then i have no doubt that Smack will depart.

We have Smack, Jenkins & Johnston - this preseason is vital for them (and us) as is their attitude and approach - our development coaches etc and these players themselves will play a significant role in our chances towards a premiership.

I dont understand all the BF love for Giles - he is not a mobile forward/ruck - he is a ruck/part forward.

I would be chasing a quick outside midfielder and maybe a KPD.

I actually see some indirect benefit to our changed structure without Tippett - our midfielders etc may learn to look and pass in lieu of simple long bombs.

This is a huge opportunity for Smack (just find him some aggro pills) and for Jenkins (although i personally would like to see him developed as a running CHB).

I can see Smack/Jenkins & Johnston in our starting 22.

Dunno about you guys but I'm sure excited to see what's on the trade table.

And slightly fearful we'll end up with the rough end of it.

lets hope we get something useful in return

AFGM has been correct to date and my contact has always stated Gorringe and Flanigan in exchange for Tippett. Personally if he is all about the money I don't want him at my club.

Yeah, I'm sure that is what the Suns will offer first. However, hopefully the Crows will tell them to piss right off with that offer. Gorringe is a spud. We'd want Sam Day or pick 2 from the Suns. Or Gibbs from Carlton. Either way will work fine.

Only way he won't end up at Gold Coast is if they don't raise their price enough I believe..

How the **** can Collingwood afford him? Wellingham is being pushed out due to cap pressure, then all of a sudden they have $800k+ to give Tippett?

Mind boggling
The story goes... They lose Dawes and Wellingham ~750k (not sure how they were paying these guys so much) and 4 guys onto the veterans list ~400k. $1.15m to spend.

Lets be honest. We will be dealing with Gold Coast.
We wont get pick 2 and nor we should...
Who wants a bet Gorringe/ Caddy compo pick and maybe we have to throw in a 2nd rounder?
No bet. A given IMO. Will be rubbish though, if thats the case.

As if this is a surprise to any crows supporters. If he goes to a Vic club then it without a doubt proves he is leaving for money, not that I have any doubts that's his motive.
Don't let the door hit you in the head on the way out, Tip$.

Have only just heard the news.

I'm shocked:rolleyes:

In our society, life is about money like it or not. Kurt is doing what is best for him in an industry where its workers have a very short 'lifespan'. I hate it but none should begrudge him going for it.

However, his bullshit behaviour of waiting until now to announce it, is completely shitful.

The Lynch signing probably rules out collingwood (thank christ).

Months ago a mate insisted he knew the deal was done - Sydney. will be interesting to see. But whoTF are we going to get for Tippett? There are simply no available players of his size and quality...and no stars available either. However the Carlton rumours + Gibbs etc.... I'd take that instantly.

I don't have a problem with "buying in" so to speak but the approach and the recruiting style need to be vastly different. Recruiting a bunch of no names and having them buy in has a whole lot more to do with just culture.

Sydney footballers, coaches and staff live in virtual anonymity. They are like average people going about their daily job - the celebrity fishbowl aspect does not exist for them. When they lose - nobody cares.

As AFGM said - less Gunstons, more Walkers.

Blucher will never be allowed into West Lakes again. Does he manage any of the other Crows players?

He has floated the bait in Melbourne and Sydney so that Kurt can announce (do I get extra points if it's at the Southport Sharks?) "It's not about the money, I loved being at Adelaide, I loved the players, the coaches and everyone at the club BUT home is where the heart is".......... (particularly if you have signed a contract twelve months ago).

Hopefully this will just create more of a bond between the players that are still here, drive us forward into a Grand Final in 2013!

Anyone reckon Tex might request to play CHB when they come up against Tipshits new team? :)
