And one of the Bribane posters has solved the problem of Kurt. Trade him to Port so he has to face crows supporters every day of the week and retires! Some delicious irony in that - and of course helping a fellow SA side- not - not even Port deserve that! ;)

Not going to argue with you about Sydney's trading with us; they have generally been good.
But out of the players you mention, Walsh doesn't cut it for me (we aren't a lesser club), Grundy has said he hates the Crows (and we don't need him), Lamb would only be the steak knives (as others have said on here), which leaves Parker on your list. But what about Johnson? The Crows were asking about him last year from memory.
I know Walsh or Lamb would be considered steak knives....just making sure that no-one is under the misunderstanding that they are spuds :) They are each worth pick 20-30 on the open market right now.

The Age is reporting this morning that it looks as though Collingwood will get Melbourne's pick 13 for Dawes or pick 4 if the Dees can convince Wellingham to be part of the deal. If the Pies get pick 13 for Dawes and we get pick 22 and a spud i'll be sick.

on a side note Tippett will be under massive pressure and scrutiny to perform

the precent has been set with Plugger & Big Bad Barry, the Sydney faithful expect consistent quality output from their high profile signings to which I am not convinced $Kurt Yippett can deliver

if Kurt does not produce a spike on his form in his previous contract he might end up being tagged as the AFL's most over-rated player

Kurt may not be able to handle this expectation & by mid season the Sydney faithful may be wondering why they paid and gave away so much for him
How will Kurt cope with the frosty reception he is likely to get from his new teammates?

Player X is on 200k a year and has just won a flag.
Kurt just came 15th in the Crows B&F and is on a million..
Hi How are you Kurt?
Any of you guys been the new recruit on $500 per game playing country football when the locals get a beer voucher only if the team wins?
You need thick skin and you want to make an immediate, massive impact....

Wellingham wants to go home to Perth. He wont stay in Melbourne.

Yep - no problems at our end.

We have no interest in improving you while we go backwards. You are the enemy. A blank check waving group of assholes. We will do you no favors.
I'm not so angry at Sydney, as long as it had been done fairly (and who knows with Bulcher as manager).
What would St Kilda supporters be saying about Adelaide if Tippett had made his decision earlier and we made a play for Goddard? Free agency and out of contract aren't that different, only less negotiating.

This.

Either way $kirt is going, on principle I really want us to go hard come trade/negotiation time.

The Sydney posters surely realize that if you are paying someone $1m a year, he is highly valued/rated.

As a result, to secure this quality you have to barter and provide a return of similar currency.

Absolute MINIMUM, is a top 10 pick and decent player as steak knives.

MINIMUM.

I still can't get past the idea that this is the beginning of the end for Sydney.

Their "culture" of team sacrifice and equality is going to find it hard to recover from the toxic addition of a $1m mercenary.
Yep agree entirely. People underestimate how badly affected a team culture can be by one 'dickhead' mercenary.

Blutcher is a dodgy bastard. It's OK to always do the best thing for your client but he is stepping over the line with this one and I hope we make him pay.

The Gentleman's Agreement was obviously centered around going "home".

Blutcher is now trying to claim that Sydney is "home" to put pressure on the Crows to honour the Gentleman's Agreement, he even had Tippett trying to say it was "home" in his press release.

That's dirty business because all parties to that agreement know that "home" is the Gold Coast/Brisbane area.

If it were me I'd go pretty hard at them for being so shifty and cocky, particularly by putting it through the media and trying to apply pressure that way. He's a dirty businessman, if I could even call him that.

Who is this 'Reid' Sydney posters are talking off?

It sounds like he has J Christ qualities about him.... ?

So if this Reid was on the table it would take Tippett, Dangerfield, Tex and Talia as steak knives to get the deal done?

Come off it idiot.

I never thought of it like that. I did wonder why all of a sudden Tippett says he was born in and has family in Sydney. It makes sense now.
Dirty tactics, I agree.

LOL, have a looks at this Blucher character... The hypocrisy and double stanards are breathtaking, trul astonishing
(form article: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/149279/default.aspx)

"The Swans currently possess the 22nd overall pick in the NAB AFL Draft, which would fall well short of the Crows' demands.

"Happily that's not my responsibility," Blucher said of what it will take to satisfy both clubs.

"But at the end of the day there is an understanding that the Crows will do their utmost to get him to the club of his choice and we also understand that things need to be commercially viable."

But then in his next breath says the following:

"If he'd chosen to go to the Gold Coast he could have walked there for nothing," he said.

"While the Giants (who have the No.1 pick) could technically take him in the pre-season draft, they don't want him. They've got Cameron and Patton as their two big key forwards and they don't have the facility to fit him in at the minute anyway.

"That makes [pick 22] commercially viable because the alternative is that they get nothing for him.

"We don't want that either because there was a commitment by us and Adelaide that there will be a commercially viable deal done to the best satisfaction of both parties.

"I'm sure it will be a very interesting period of time."

Dear me.

Holy Ghost's big o
Actually the best result for us winning the flag next year is letting him go for nothing. The Gold Coast have pick 2. Let him go to the Gold Coast. We have the cap space to net a star in his absence, without handing Sydney a huge premiership advantage next year. Let's not be seduced by the stature of the player, or Sydney's offer, or his supposed value. Piss him off, don't give him what he wants.

:thumbsu:

This is why Sydney is now such a "home"..
Absolutely trying to dog our club, the 2 of them..
Normally a player leaving doesn't want to screw his club over, but Kurt gives the tick of approval to every angle that attempts to do so..

I don't see any future "Gentleman's agreements" being struck by the AFC..

I agree completely. Choosing Sydney renders all past agreements/understanding null and void. AFC obviously need to get the best deal, but not act in Kurt's best interests....he does alright in that regard all by himself!

There are weaknesses on the field that can be improved and these are now the sole focus of what the AFC need to address in these negotiations. Whatever the case I hope the compensation is like for like eg a player who will be in the 22 and contribute to our future success in games.
