To be fair that very last sentence has absolutely no bearing on what happens here, that draft was 4 years ago now.

Your rating system is all well and good Parker's top ten if we enter the draft now and such.

The question I pose to you is...

If Parker is a lock for top ten, what do you think Tippett goes at if he entered this years draft?

Exorbitant wage and all he would slide no further than Melbourne's third/fourth selection. That's not being biased or arrogant it is just realising that a club would pay the draft premium for his output.

Don't worry I am realistic to realise that we don't get anywhere near that. I recognise that we will get a very good deal out of it however. I think for a player like Tippett, a guy like Grundy moves from untradable to tradable just for the upside Kurt brings that side.

I think that Grundy + 1st rounder is just about as fair as it gets from both sides.
yes a first rounder in the top 12 which they will have to trade for and not pick 22. That is called getting shafted with a capitral C. Grundy is only effective as key defender because odf the was Sydney play- clogging up the backline. In other teams that play more open football he is a third tall. Dont want him - he is 27 and offers us nothing more than Otten and the guys we already have. Made to look good in Sydney by a brilliant midfield that works deep into defence and plays on the fast break

Presumably a pick after their first pick for losing Goddard

Thanks for that. I was assuming that it was tied to the expansion clubs, never occurred to me that it would be for Goddard. I suppose the value of the pick would depend on how we view the Saints prospects for next season, unless we can bank the pick for later use?

Hawks have also declared that they need a KP Defender as it was obviously the weak point in thir quest for a premiership, additionally Roughead was put on the cross by many on the Hawthorn board after his GF performance

with all this in mind and thinking way out of the box Grundy to the Hawks & Roughead to the crows????
No way.

We need to give our remaining talls a chance. We tooo need to get young defenders into the mix. Rutten has two years left at most, but in this time our other guys will get stronger also with age and maturity

You wouldn't take Roughead if he was offered? Are you nuts?

The paper is reporting Collingwood is trying to get pick four from Melbour for Dawes and Wellingham.

Pick 13 for the two of them maybe but pick 4 is just a pipe dream. I doubt Wellingham or Dawes are worth a mid range first round pick, bundling them together doesn't make it better

Some of the comments made by this Blucher guy are just bizarre... Kurt likes the idea of being coached by Longmire 'cos he's tall? WTF?! He'd be better served just keeping his mouth shut.

It's obvious that height is how you measure the true worth of a coach. From memory Ross Lyon is pretty tall, maybe I should put some money on Freo to win next year.
Anyone know how tall Hinkley is so I can work out how good a coach Port got?

I wonder if Travis Varcoe could have anything to do with the trade? Fits a need for us with outside speed and guessing would have a good relationship with Sando..
Fairly sure he may be out of contract
Really hope we target Varcoe this trade period. Whether it's in a Tippett trade or not I don't care, think he's one that could add plenty to the Crows list if he can stay on the field.

Pretty much, if all we got for Tippett leaving was Roughie, I'd be stoked

As long as he can play Tippet's role without the whining about homesickness, attention seeking, complaints about attention, doesn't ask for the world as his wage, and doesn't have a two-faced manager.... he is welcomed.:thumbsu:

They got rid of Primus too soon.:p

I don't believe we will land a big Sydney fish in this trade period by getting a like for like but we should be playing a public game of poker to keep everyone at the Sydney Football Club honest. We should be aiming to get a fair and equal deal by including a 3rd or 4th club by getting our hand on a top 10 draft pick and a second player who will walk straight into our best 22.

IMO I feel this game of public poker should start with Brenton Sanderson who should be calling in some massive favours from Nathan Buckley at Collingwood and Neil Balme at the Geelong Football club as this can and will influence them as well. He should be getting them to start spreading some rumours via their media contacts that they are after Josh Kennedy and they willing to offer him some big coin to lure him down to Victoria. Even if nothing come from this, it should be enough to increase his asking price and make Sydney pay overs (or more than his original asking price) by looking at ways to decrease their current salary cap by looking at other avenues to make sure they can sill fit Kurt Tippett under their salary cap.

It's time to play a game of ducks and drakes and use public perception to our advantage on what is and what isn't happening.

I'd also like to see some senior Crows officials fly into Sydney and been seen talking to a few players who could be on the Sydney list to show we're not going to be walked over.

Make those bastards pay for ****ing with us.

Reckon Sando will go hard this trade period....

He gets a chance to cut and mould the list as he sees fit.

Will be interesting to see who becomes 'available' when serious $$ gets put to them along with playing in a likely top 4 team again next year.

A fit and firing Varcoe & Rohan would be very interesting.... Somehow if we could get Giles as steak knives, we would be laughing.

Can someone explain the meaning or context behind this? I mean the part about Kurt Tippett and Brenton Sanderson.

I don't get it

Wow!!

The Adelaide Crows agreeing with Jeff Kennett, that's a first!!

Got a feeling this is going to be more than ground swell, expect other clubs to join the chorus!!

Enter Edward Mcguire anyone??;)

CROWS chairman Rob Chapman is calling for a review of Sydney's extra allowance in the AFL salary cap as Adelaide deals with Kurt Tippett's defection.

Sydney's reported $1 million-a-season deal for the 25-year-old key forward is clouded by the Swans having an additional 9.8 per cent ($862,000) allowance in its salary cap to cover higher costs of living in the NSW capital.

But Chapman has joined former Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett in questioning why the allowance continues while the Swans are the AFL's pacesetter.

"It was a great idea at the start to give Sydney that extra assistance that was required (to lure players to the Swans from traditional markets)," Chapman said on Sunday.

"But when the Swans have just won a premiership and allegedly can offer $1 million to entice a player such as Kurt Tippett to their club, I'd say the model is not right for today."

Chapman's comments come after Kennett called on the AFL to revoke Sydney's salary cap concessions.

I think we are ALL confused by it. Blucher added that Kurt really liked the idea of being coached by Horse because he played in the same position and then added, he also liked the idea of having a taller coach seeing he hadn't had a coach over 5'9"! Sando is 6'1"! So I get it referred to short arse Craig, but what is sando? Chopped liver? Maybe Kurt didn't like sando? Or maybe, just maybe, blucher is a w***er.

Oh ok, so nothing at all in it. Just another bullshit line to justify his move away from the crows and not to Queensland.

The more excuses they use to "justify" it, the more it comes across as a w***er move

Last Saturday, Sydney was most people's no. 2 team. This week they are public enemy number one! Lovin' it.

No, I've always hated the Swans and the city of Sydney.

Shit place to live, shit club and shit morals and ethics.

Still cant believe that deadshit Blucher said "pick 22 is a fair deal, its commercially viable"....

I can understand he wants the deal done as quick as possible so he can get his clip of the ticket, but saying words to the effect of "Crows should take what they are given" is so delusional.

Let the games beginn tomorrow...
