Might as well have a crack at a theoretical trade myself. :)

Collingwood has Dawes and Wellingham looking for the way out, so they just might be the 3rd party that gets a trade done with Sydney.

Lets assume that Dawes and Adelaide's 3rd rounder goes to Melbourne for pick 13.

Lets also assume that Wellingham - who would be a great fit for Adelaide - is prepared to go there

Although Reid has recently signed a 5 year contract with Sydney, I'm sure that he would jump at the opportunity to go home and play with his brother at Collingwood.

And of course Treacherous Tippett goes to Sydney at a cost to Sydney of Reid and Pick 22.

Melbourne: In: Dawes, Adelaide's 3rd Out: Pick 13

Collingwood: In: Reid, Adelaide's 2nd Out: Dawes, Wellingham, Collingwood's 2nd

Sydney: In: Tippett Out: Reid, Pick 22

Adelaide: In: Wellingham, Pick 13, Pick 22, Collingwood's 2nd Out: Tippett, Adelaide's 2nd, Adelaides 3rd

Leaves Adelaide with 4 draft picks - 13, 20,22 and Collingwood's 2nd.

All theoretical of course, and unlikely to happen, but IMO would be a fairly good trade for all parties.
Not bad I would suggest collingwood would jump at this effectively swapping Reid for wellingham and Dawes. They can cover wellingham and Reid is a way better prospect than Dawes.

Our problem is GWS have said thanks but no thanks. So he would go to GCS.

Something tells me he wouldn't care. Take his money and go surfing and we get zip.
Pick 22 in my opinion is almost close to getting zip anyway. I'd be livid if we accepted pick 22 and some spud like Jessie White as a trade for a $900,000 player.

Let him go to GC and get 300,000-400,000 less, he'll be getting less than what we offered him and GC are years away from winning a flag. Works out better for us than accepting a shitty trade from Sydney and establishes that as a club we are no longer going to take one over the barrel and accept shitty trades to ensure players are traded to club of their choosing.

Andrew Ireland from Sydney is on Trade Week Radio, bringing up a few times that we agreed with Kurt 3 years ago we will help him leave if he wants to leave.. Sounds just like Kurt's manager..

Was asked about salary cap and Kurt's salary, said Kurt will play for less but then when pushed on it, said players will retire in the next few years and that's where they have room to move etc.. ie. Kurt will be on less next year, and then have a massive loaded last few years of his contract.. It's all in the wording and window dressing hey ;)

2c - not interested in a player unless they're a gun. A current one, not a potential one. We've got Johnston, Smack, Jenkins, I'm not sure we're immediately handicapped losing Tippett; time for one of them to step up and command the position.

Would rather a top ten pick and a top fifteen pick for him.

First off its not Irelands business what our arrangement was with Kurt. Secondly, I wonder if Ireland bought Bulchers version of events and thought they were going to get this done easy.

As I said some time ago we offer Kennedy what we offered Kurt and let the Swannies get around that one without either going over the salary cap, loosing him or dropping Kurt.
That way the whole deal becomes very messy and could fall over.

When will people understand that when we made this "agreement" it hinged on him going to Queensland? Ugh, not even trade week for an hour and I'm over it already

I know it's half sinking to their level, but it'd be nice for a Crow to get on the front foot and tell them in clear terms that we consider the 'agreement' to be null and void.

EDIT - Good to see, we already have ;)

By not choosing a "go-home" trade, Adelaide says the handshake with Tippett in 2009 is no longer relevant.

"Our priority is to get the best commercial deal possible," said Chapman.

Of the infamous handshake at West Lakes in 2009 that was supposed to give Tippett an easy return to the Gold Coast, Chapman said: "That was three years ago...and some people have selective memories.

"We want the best deal."

Fair enough by the Crows IMO. If he was our player and did the same thing, I'd be pissed off too.

I just had exact same thought. Sydney may well have been led to believe a trade would be relatively easy.

Could all fall over if thats the case

It's going to be a long couple of weeks. There will be a ton of back and forth but eventually a deal will be done, probably involving a few other clubs either directly or indirectly. Could be the case where we organise deals for picks we receive from Sydney before actually receiving them so we can know what it will be.

Like last year, it's going to be a look of Net in v Net out, not just what happens between Adelaide and Sydney.

Hutchy: "I don't see why Sydney need to offer anything"

Because my smart portly friend, if they don't, they don't get a player they obviously rate, and want, a LOT.

Wow Rooch helping us out.. He also set them straight on last years trades.. Hutchy was saying we need to get something good this year because last years trades were shitty.. Rooch told him don't write off a few of them, they're young and will play a hand in the future.. Johnston had a good year in the sanfl etc.. Met by dead silence by the idiot..

Hutchy also saying Sydney will offer pick 42 and we might have to take it.. :D:thumbsu:

I'm very very concerned about what we said in 2009.

Don't ever do that again afc. If someone needs out clauses just say goodbye.
It was a gentlemans agreement to help Kurt get home if he wanted to at the end of the contract.

as the club has maintain, if this was the GC they wouldn't be fussed.
