I'm very very concerned about what we said in 2009.

Don't ever do that again afc. If someone needs out clauses just say goodbye.
I said somewhere, you'll never see one of these Gentleman's Agreements again..
Even though with Tiprat choosing Sydney we have an out on it, I bet they curse it every day at the club..
Hangs like a black cloud over all of this..

Unlikely that any players from sydney to adelaide is what im told
Then how the hell is a FAIR trade going to happen, you really need to smash the Swans for this, they seem to be assuming you will roll over as evidenced by the fact they cant of talked to other clubs about a 3 way trade prior to making Tippett the offer and they new that have little in the way of draft picks of players wanting to move.

Make them pay through the nose.

Note on the swans board that Adelaide on TWR are suggesting there's agreement... Anyone heard anything?
Rubbish.. When Noble was asked about it, he replied in a manner of "i've had enough of this shit" but simply said that we will do the best possible deal for the AFC.. They asked him again, he repeated that again..

It was a gentlemans agreement to help Kurt get home if he wanted to at the end of the contract.

as the club has maintain, if this was the GC they wouldn't be fussed.
I'm concerned that there was any agreement of any kind, it really is quite dumb and reeks of desperation. "Hey Kurt, we really don't want to lose you now as we're on the verge of something great, but we'd be cool if you want to leave after we've put three more years of development into you and you've become one of the most valuable commodities in the competition. Sign here, initial here, here and here."

We should refer to it as the KY clause from now on...

I'm not about to do an AFGM, but all i've heard is that the rumours about senior swans being upset that while they have taken less pay to have success, the club was willing to bring an outsider in on big money and the threat of trading a teammate to facilitate the trade. I'm lead to believe these players have expressed these reservations to the club. Also Brisbane don't appear to have any direct competition from rival clubs for Moloney at present and the FA period still has two weeks to run.

When Brisbane sign a senior player you can rule out a move for Kurt.
What page did this AFGM meltdown happen on?

Wish they would get over this gentlemans agreement rubbish. Even if it were true that we agreed to work hard to send Tippett to his preferred destination (which it's not), isn't that how normal trading works anyway?

Yeah, except he is fixated on us getting Heath Grundy. I don't share his enthusiasm there!
Really don't see the issue with Grundy, he'd be a welcome addition to our team. Only thing that concerns me is what would come with him, 22 doesn't cut it, but if they trade their way to something around pick 10 then it's close to a win.

  • His name has been mentioned as a potential trade to Adelaide in previous years.
  • With Kennedy still uncontracted, he appears likely to be used (by Sydney) as a major component in engineering the Tippett trade.
  • If Kennedy were to return to Melbourne, then Hawthorn would appear his most logical suitor.
  • Roughead would go a long way towards filling the gap created by Tippett's departure.
  • Kennedy<-->Roughead<-->Tippett appears to be a relatively even trade all-round, with little (if any) need for sweeteners.
That's the logic. As far as I know, no such flow of logic has extended beyond the Adelaide Board.... yet. I've been pushing it fairly hard, but I'm only proposing it as an option. I'm definitely not declaring it to be a "done deal" or even one that is likely to be contemplated by those in a position to turn these ideas into reality.
I also head this on the 5AA saturday morning footy show around 9.30am

Ah yes, the bigfooty rumour circle. It starts with someone on bigfooty posting a rumour or a trade idea. The media read bigfooty and make it into a story in the paper/on radio. Then someone on bigfooty reads/hears said media, and says "yeh I heard this too", and pretty soon it becomes fact.

Rooch has actually been quite sympathetic over this issue. Don't know why though.

But oy, this is going to be a LONG few weeks.
Same reason most of us were grudgingly happy to see Boak stay with them; it's not helpful for either side for there to be a culture/habit of players leaving either side - the more do it, the more accepted it becomes, the easier it becomes.

And I think most people still have an objective sense of fairness, and don't want to see us get bent over after the Bock/Davis/Gunston crap we're already worn.

Vader's rumour of Kennedy > Roughead > Tippett makes sense. Has all the hallmarks of a good deal - fair, seen to be fair, simple, equitable and probably no one needs any sweeteners.

Only problem would Roughey be happy to come to come to the Crows?

I would love seeing just a hint that Roughhead wants out somewhere else than a thread in the Crows board talking about replacing Tippett.
