And if the contract is back-loaded, good luck with that, swans!
I remember how Kouta's back-loaded one turned out for Carlton; nearly sent them broke, and over the cap.

What is the topic? Tippett has left, there's not much more to discuss.

The dominos are falling, it's very much relevant to what's going to happen in the Tippett situation.
Rubbish
just your quotes
"Wow, we did bloody well to get a mini draft pick last year.

Can't believe GWS will trade themselves into picks 1, 2 and 3, nice work AFL HQ..."

and

"The AFL have a shocking track record with regards to coming up with a plan with the "intent" of it doing something, only for it blow up in their faces. GWS weren't meant to target youngsters like Scully/Davis. They were meant to use mini draft picks to top up with mature list fillers to make them more competitive. Channel 7 were meant to show footy in HD, and were meant to use their exclusive rights to show all the teams on Thursday night at a reasonable time. But nothing was mandated, so they just do whatever the hell they want.

The AFL are such amateurs when it comes to this stuff."

prove this to be incorrect about being part of the Tippett trade deal.

Bet back on track.

The only way Brisbane will get in the frame is if pick 8 is involved.

Sydney want Tippett, pick 22 and a player will be their starting offer and it'll move on from that.
I would not be surprised at all if Brisbane sweep in later this week or next and offer something like Polec + pick 8 for Tippett + Pick 19 + something, if we're willing to cover some of Kurts contract or something along those lines. I think Tippett is more important to Brisbane than many realise, add him to their side and suddenly they're looking a lot more potent.

How about we come up with a new name for "the player who has asked to be traded to Sydney"? Honestly, I am sick of hearing his name, and I am sure the Crows are as well. It would be nice to hear some other club news for once.
I have used Boofhead a couple of times, but I am open to suggestions.
There's a few around..
I know we have a Tiprat in the comp, but Kurt Tippett resembles one.. Plus the name..

What happens if say he gets seriously concussed next season and is told he cant play on. Will the swans be forced to keep him on the books like Fev at Brisbane? Or can they wipe the contract if its deemed an injury stopping him from playing at AFL level again?

Yep. It works on iPhone 4. Get the AFL app. If you already have that, you need to upgrade it, no cost.

Edit. They are bloody irritating and you might be tempted to smash the phone. So there is a risk ;)
LOL Im on Android and yeah got the AFL app... stream not working.

He'll frame his contract demands so that Gold Coast can afford him, and it'll be heavily front loaded.
What are the rules around Tip$ asking say $600K a year from Sydney but then if he goes into the PSD he ups his demands to $1 million a season so that nobody takes him and he falls through to Sydney. I would suspect you cant just make misleading demands to get to the club of your choice, right?

Really?

Returns of 41.28, 16.6, 53.46, 51.27, 75.51 in the last few seasons say otherwise
75 was back in 2008, thats going back a bit.
57.34 in the last two seasons at just over 1.5 a game isnt anything spectacular and lower than his career average.
Even Tip$ averages are better than that and we all know how dodgy he has been in front of goals.
Do you think he is going to kick bags of 50+ a season for the next 3 years as a Crow?

Issue is he's been spending less and less time as a key forward and more time as an undersized ruckman/utility. Play him exclusively as a key forward and I think we would see him get back to at least 50+ goals a year. I think Walker will develop more and more into your classic Carey style CHF. He has elite endurance, his foot skills are sublime and he's no mug when the ball hits the deck. Add in Roughead as a side kick and the two could rotate extremely effectively between FF and CHF. Would probably then have to play either Jenkins/McKernan as 2nd ruck/3rd tall forward, putting us on the taller side, but not really that tall.

Only read the last few pages of this thread so sorry if I'm missing something, but if all sydney offer you is pick 22 and a player for tippett that is a joke. A player that is coming into the prime of his career standing 2m tall with such a big presence do not grow on trees and i would be more than happy to give up pick 9 from the tigers for him. If I was adelaide I would be demanding a top 10 pick minimum but I realise it becomes hard when he nominates a club that has little to trade with. Hope you guys don't get stitched up too bad

Mods, perhaps we can add to the list of red card offences: Stating "the agreement" as fact, or referring to media reporting "the agreement" and suggesting that it is in any way based in reality.
Nah.. it's too widely mentioned in the media. Besides anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows that it's a load of bollocks and no longer applicable to the Tippett/Sydney situation.

No, if he gets injured, they have to at least pay him out (or come to an agreement for similar). The Fev debacle was more recent, but I'm pretty sure Kouta missed a lot of games through injury, right when his contract was at its highest.
