There is no legal avenue to sue for a Gentleman's Agreement. In law it is considered to be a "trusting" agreement where both parties know that it is not enforceable by the courts. I've said this three times, there is no legal avenue for Blutcher and Tippett to enforce the agreement. Regardless, I don't think they have upheld their side of it which is why Trigg said it's broken because he went to Sydney.
Don't get me wrong I agree that there is no legal basis for him to make a threat but I still wouldn't put it past him to do so.

The AFC should publicly announce that they will fulfill the original agreement and work closely with GC and Brisbane to make sure Kurt gets back home :)

Andrew Ireland talking on Trade Talk to reporters.

Some idiot asked him are they going to enforce the agreement that Tippett can be traded for a 2nd round pick.

Ireland said that there is no such agreement in Tippett's contract.

Today's discussion didn't involve any talk of players - rather that the 2 clubs discussed the manner in which they would bring the trade to fruition. This will be left to be done by negotiations between Beatson and Noble who would have their own private meetings.

Asked whether he thought the deal would happen, he said that he was sure that it would, because Sydney over the last 10 years have shown that they are fair traders and pay a fair price.

When asked what that would be by Rucci, he said that he would leave Beatson to find out what it is that Adelaide are seeking.

Asked whether he still intended to keep their premiership team intact, he said that he hoped so, but we won't know that until the trade is agreed and completed. A definite back down on his chest beating the other day that no premiership player would be traded!! :)

After listening to Ireland today I'm confident that we will get at least reasonable compensation for Tippett.

Add another to the long list of those who have said no such clause exists.

That is a fair back down, maybe Ireland is rattled because we went into that meeting and said that we've put a $900K per season offer in front of Josh Kennedy...
I'd hope we did, and put the same offer in front of Jetta as a back up. Not to mention the $400k pa offer to Tom Mitchell. :D

Guess it's lucky Rohan wasn't a premiership player.

Seriously though, if that's their attitude, I say we tell them to **** off, start talking with Brisbane and GC, and tell Kurt he can go there or he can go to the Pre-Season Draft and hope he makes it past GWS (and every other club including us) before he gets to Sydney.
In all honesty, they should be working with Brisbane towards a deal from day 1 - as a backup in the event that the Sydney trade goes south. Sydney are in for a rude shock if they made the offer to Tippett based on false info from Blucher, regarding the compensation that Adelaide would be expecting in return.

With GC having traded away pick #2, Brisbane are now the #1 contenders for a trade - as far as Adelaide would be concerned. At least, I hope that's their line of thinking.

How long until we get a threat from Blucher to sue the Crows for breach of contract if we don't honour the 'gentlemen's agreement'?? I could seriously see the dickhead pulling a stunt like that...
I'd call his bluff for certain. Not only would it never hold up in court, but Kurt would be left in limbo while the court case went ahead.

Good to hear Ireland acknowledge that the the clause is crap. Now that the Crows, the AFL, and the CEO of Kurt's preferred target club have acknowledged it, I wonder if people will still claiming it as fact? Probably not.

I don't think we'll get "screwed" as such. We won't get his value back, of course. But I think we'll get a decent deal, and hopefully we'll use the spare cash to target a gun player or two elsewhere.

As much as I'd love to see the crying of Sydney supporters and the resulting questioning of their spew inducing culture, they won't trade Tom Mitchell.

Tom mitchell + pick? to GWS
2nd mini draft pick to demons for pick 3
pick 3 to crows
tippett to Sydney
Would rather pick 3 than Mitchell, so don't mind this. And I'm guessing GWS would prefer Mitchell to pick 3.

All depends on whether or not Sydney would give up Mitchell - they'd be crazy not to, but wouldn't go as far as to say they'd jump at it.
