Getting married this Friday. My money is on a deal being struck during the ceremony when I can't/shouldn't be on tapatalk... Damnit

Not sure I'd want it to ruin the day anyway.
Congratulations! Hope you have a terrific day and don't spend one second worrying about Kurt ******* Tippett!

There will be other chances to get married.

wonder if it hinges on St Kilda receiving pick 13 for Goddard on Friday, then on-trading to the Swans . . .
Is that when the FA compensation is announced? I can't believe it's so late. The FA period should've been 2 weeks, then the trade period 2 weeks. Having them overlap was pure idiocy. Next week is going to be mental once everyone knows exactly what their picks are worth.

So frustrating that while Skirt continues to say he won't go anywhere but Sydney, we continue to look more and more likely to get **** all in return. FFS Collingwood got pick 20 for Dawes!

The whole situation is rubbish and the AFC has been played by Bulcher and Tippett.
As I have said Tippett's inflated salary offered under Sydney's cap concessions has priced out the market and made it almost impossible to strike a fair trade

Yes Bulcher and Tippett have screwed us however so has the AFL

Don't be surprised if Syd loses it's cap concessions however it will all be to late

First we lose Gibbs, than Bock & Davis to expansion club concessions and now Tippett to concessions granted to Sydney

In fairness to the AFC it hasn't exactly been a level playing field

You make a very good point here. Would make a lot of sense. A Parker type worth pick 13? Maybe a third rounder as well? Tips for 13, 22 and White? (Don't shoot me, I'm not ready to die )

Everyone

Let's not compare the Dawes situation as we are not comparing apples to apples

1. Dawes was still under contract which puts all the aces in Collingwood's hand
2. Kurt is coming out of contract and Sydney has deliberately priced Kurt out of the market

Syd, Kurt, Bulcher and the AFL has created mission impossible to get a market fair deal for Kurt. Unless a club comes out and says we can meet Kurt's contract demands and we will take him in the draft we are backed into a corner, to this stage clubs have expressed interest however no club have gone as far as saying we can commit to Kurt's contract demands

This is not all the AFC doing, I would say Sydney would be staring down our threat of putting Kurt in the draft to the point their laughing in our faces

Unless the Giants say we have the room in our cap and we will draft Kurt we are staring down the barrel no matter what cards we play

I agree with M23

People need to stop going on a roller coaster ride based on Chinese whispers and unfortunately the 3 weeks trade period has escalated people's emotions

At this point of time I still hold trust in Noble & co, Noble has made a public threat to send Yippett to the draft, we are yet to accept pick 22 and we know there are other interested parties, outside of this the rest is just pure speculation

I think there is logic in the thought that if we were prepared to accept pick 22, wouldn't we have done it by now? Clearly we are still trying to get a better offer.

I also think we've been quite different with our approach this year, where normally we try to do things behind the scenes, there is a whole lot of breast beating going on as it is being played in the media - first with Trigg with the "not honouring the handshake agreement because he's not gone home to QLD", then Blucher with his "they should accept pick 22 thats a good deal", then Ireland with "we are not giving up a premiership player, or mitchell", then Noble with "we'll send him to the draft", then GWS entering the fray "we've got a shit load of low picks and we want him", and finally Blucher with "Tippett is still in control". It will be interesting to see how the next stage plays out.

Good summary Jenny. Very sensible and I think you are right. We do all need to stay clam and be patient. When I step back and look at this process dispassionately, without all the emotion connected to Tippett, I'm still hopeful that we will come out of this OK. I reckon I can see what the club is doing and its fine given the trickiness of the circumstances.

Having said that, we actually have no hard evidence whatsoever that the club are going to accept pick 22/3 - only hearsay - and that's no disrespect to FAITH, Hodra or Beartoo - I love hearing what they have to say - but until we hear directly from the club we really don't know anything at all - except to have a lot of fun strategising (sort of !) and discussing possible tactics.

So lets all chill and keep this in perspective - we are talking about football which is not life and death, (yeah I know... I know!)...so lets just enjoy it and have fun - and the sun will come up tomorrow - and the club and life as we know it will be there in the morning. :)

Still a long way to go with this one. Sydney wont concede anything extra yet, there is still over a week to go. We have to be patient and let them sweat. The only thing for sure is they wont get him in either draft. They cant put 1M on his head because they themselves cant afford it over the next 2 years. There are at least 2 clubs waiting for it to fall over so they can have him for nothing. Sydney know it, but wont concede in hope we will blink first. Hang in there AFC.

As risk of sounding too negative I am generally prepared to accept faiths word. He is right way to often to dismiss it.

So for me its 22, maybe white.

I will say this though. Faith gave clear direction that we should not judge until the end of the trade period. I'm certainty happy to do that. We need to see what the end net result is.

And here's a sobering thought. We lose 22 and Sydney use it to snaffle a slider like menzel or stringer who end up forming a lethal combo with tippett?

Might be too much to bear!

All that said I dont buy that we are over a barrel and nothing we could do. There were options we have just been unwilling to gamble pick 22 and stare them down.

This is actually a very good question. Anyone know the answer?
This is the very reason why the whole concept is such a rort because there is no way in determining whether the 9% has been applied to all contracts or whether Syd are using the 9% to attract a big fish

I think your on the money

The decision will likely come down to regardless of the fairness of Sydney's offer will the pick help improve our list and this decision will be made collectively between Noble, Hamish and Sando

Sydney have already stolen Tippett so is it better for us to have pick 22 instead of Sydney

I think the fact they are paying a big fish almost the exact amount is pretty fair indication of what theyre doing with it! It's bullshit!!

I am no Tippett fan and do not think he is worthy of what most Crow supporters do... And just because Sydney are overpaying hiim doesnt suddenly make him a better player... IMO he is a 500-550k a year player. TOPS

My take on it.

If Wellingham is worth 17 and Dawes 20.....

Is Tippett worth more than Wellingham and Dawes as a package?

I would say no.... If we can get pick 22 and another pick in the teens, we should jump at it...

Time for an external independent audit. If Sydney aren't cheating they have nothing to worry about. It's time to really examine this issue anyway. The COL allowance is not required for attraction purposes and hasn't been required for some years IMO. And I've said previously, people earning hundreds of thousands a year do not need allowances - particularly when others, probably within the club, struggle to water and electricity bills.
