Soft spot for Brisbane
Gee, I wouldn't have traded Tippett for Wellington and Dawes. I think you've proven yourself wrong there. Two twenty cent pieces do not add up to a dollar.

I'd rather #22 by itself than White.

That said, if we can deal with GWS, we can get Toumpas.

So the ******* AFL better get involved and sort this out.
I'm probably late with this so if so I apologise but just read this on AFL.com this morning and fell off my chair...

"The Swans are reportedly able to meet Tippett's wage demands, but their apparent offers of a second-round pick or out-of-favour forward/ruck White are short of the Crows' expectations"

pick 22 OR Jesse White? OMG I hate the Swans and Bulcher...I want them dead...how ******* dare they? what a bunch of arrogant wankers....how the **** is Jesse White the equal of Kurt Tippett? how do they keep a straight face at the trade table?

Sydney - "uh yeah we're prepared to offer you jesse white...that's a fair deal"

Crows - "um we don't even know who the **** jesse white is....piss off flog"

Sydney - "But Tippett nominated our great club...you're lucky we don't just take him for free you ungrateful twit"

Been watching this thread and there are some very confused people out there.

The same people saying he's a spud are wanting top 15 picks for him.

Let's be honest, if he had played for anyone else you would be telling them that 22 was a great trade for him.

I'd be happy with a pick in the 20's for a player that was not very good anyway.

While another side has said to you 'hey, we are willing to give up pick 2 or 3 or 12/13 combined'....?

I think your on the money

The decision will likely come down to regardless of the fairness of Sydney's offer will the pick help improve our list and this decision will be made collectively between Noble, Hamish and Sando

Sydney have already stolen Tippett so is it better for us to have pick 22 instead of Sydney
Offset that, by its better for us, if another team has Tippett rather than sydney.

I tend to agree. Hes played half a dozen decent games in his career. Take 22 and move on.

If Tippett nominates his salary and I assume you mean he would raise the asking price then that also stuffs up Sydney as they would also have to accept Tippetts higher asking price and Sydney cant afford to pay more in the first 2 years.
In terms of Tippett's contractual demands, both GWS and Carlton are more than capable of matching anything that Sydney can offer. This means that Tippett can't get to Sydney via the PSD or ND, as he'll be snapped up by one of these two clubs long before Sydney enter the draft (either draft).

Sydney aren't cheating, the issue is that the AFL has introduced a concession that is unable to be audited or policed
You'd think the easiest way to police it would be to ensure that Sydney are paying the minimum of the standard cap vi all their contracted players then adding the CoL allowance individually to each contract rather than adding the 9.8% to the standard cap and allowing it to be divided how they see fit.

Large caveat here is that I'm not actually sure how the allowance works...

As an aside, do people think that Port ensured further trades to and from them were more equitable after the Nick Stevens saga or not? This would influence whether to push him into either form of the draft or not.

Getting married this Friday. My money is on a deal being struck during the ceremony when I can't/shouldn't be on tapatalk... Damnit

Not sure I'd want it to ruin the day anyway.
You should always be on tapatalk, make sure to work that into the wedding vows :)
Best of luck for the wedding.

he's been offered roughly a million dollars per season (on average), and apparently chris dawes is worth pick 20 plus pocket change and wellingham is worth pick 17.

if you think kurt is worth less than that based on the salary he has been offered by no only sydney but gold coast, adelaide and brisbane (in excess of $750k per season from all of them), then you sir are the one who is 'confused'.

Long long long long time reader about to take the plunge. Here goes...

Probably already been mentioned but with Collingwood shipping Dawes off, and accumulating picks inside the top 25, is there a chance they'll make a darkhorse run at Tippett? I know the dog has just backed us into a corner again with that "I wont even go to GWS" call, but the Pies have seemed quietly keen for him all along.

His price tag is obviously an issue too. Could they afford him? And I think, as far as making a pitch to Tippett's management, surely all they'd have to do is say "yeah we know you love Sydney, but hey... we're Collingwood."

"Its not a million, but have 800 and a Lexus dealership..."

Also:

* Tippett's a dog
* I cant wait for Crouch
* McKernan will step up
* We need outside run around stoppages
* I hate Port

You are bringing a non football factor into the equation. A factor that differs from club to club, Tippet hasn't done half of what Dawes has.

You are confused.

You are also assuming Melbourne are capable of paying correct value for players...

This is actually a very good question. Anyone know the answer?
It's covered (vaguely) by para 10.14 of the Player Rules document:
10.14 Additional Amount – Sydney Swans
The Total Player Payments for the Sydney Swans shall be the amount determined from time to time by the Commission.
In other words, they have a higher salary cap to play with as a whole. The extra isn't doled out as a set percentage per player.

i've had enough of this. tipp is being an a-grade cock-head in this. i'd go to him with 1 last chance to entertain a trade to gws. if he says no, then i'd be telling him that he is going to the draft and that he's pissed us off so much, we will pick him up and can effing rot in the sanfl. if his form warrants it, he will be selected to play seniors, but if he doesn't perform he'll be straight back to the sanfl getting booed and hissed by a couple of thousand people each week. not to mention at the shops, the cinema, parking his car at training, wherever he goes in this town, he'll be copping it.

i'd rather him get $800k of cap next year because we'd set it aside for him anyway and using 23 in the draft will be eating up eff all of that and giving us nothing for a 2013 flag tilt.

if anyone picks the shunt up before us, then good luck to him & them.
